This has been a feeling of mine for a long while too. I read and hear that the Republicans should change so as to attract the voters who are supporting the Democrats. That if they don't change the country will never swing back to the right, and the Republicans will never win another election.

If the Republicans have to lose their souls in order to win, then it is not worth it. Let the country go to the dogs, if that is what the majority want. A true conservative could not get down in the gutter with the Democrats and remain a conservative. It is filthy down there!

Note I do not equate a Republican and a conservative. Too many Republicans have already lost their souls.

Politics and government are important, but we still have to be able to respect ourselves and be able to do what is right.

The policies of the left are truly evil which means to me that those who support them are either evil themselves or simply idiots ("useful idiots" according to Marx/Lenin). I hope most are not evil although some of the posters on these forums seem to meet that criterion.

Great post. Im so sick of my 401K taking hits because of dipshits like Cruz suggesting the US is not going to pay the bills it has ALREADY rung up. I don't think the baggers understand that this is NOT about stopping spending, it is being a deadbeat and not paying the bill for money we have already spent. Threaten not to pay your bills, and pretty soon no one wants to lend you money, or wants higher interest to lend you money.

Is threatening to shut down the government going to be standard operating procedure anytime things don't go 100% your way? This is like negotiating with terrorists.
