Here we go again. Just another attempt by Obama and Big Government takeover which can only lead to policing of the Internet in the future, along with all of the other detrimental effects on Americans and their use of the Internet. As I understand it, the vote will be on February 26.

Because I have seen one of their petitions, I know for a fact, too, that the Democrats are seeking online petitions in favor of net neutrality. I seriously doubt that most of those petitioning for net neutrality even know what they're asking for, but they will if they get it! It's going to cost all of us if Obama's 332-page plan to regulate the Internet goes through.

Edited from an article in dailycaller.com:

"Republican FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai on Friday raised the first of many criticisms to come about FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler's aggressive net neutrality plan distributed to commissioners Thursday, which Pai described as 'President Obama's 332-page plan to regulate the Internet.'"

Pai said that the 332-page plan won't be released to the public until after the commission votes on its implementation later this month. He commented that he wished the public could see what is actually inside.

"'President Obama's plan marks a monumental shift toward government control of the Internet. It gives the FCC the power to micromanage virtually every aspect of how the Internet works,' Pai said. 'The plan explicitly opens the door to billions of dollars in new taxes on broadband... These taxes will mean higher prices for consumers and more hidden fees that they have to pay.'

"In his initial cursory overview of the plan, the commissioner said it would hinder broadband investment, slow network speed and expansion, limit outgrowth to rural areas of the country and reduce Internet service provider (ISP) competition.

"'The plan saddles small, independent businesses and entrepreneurs with heavy-handed regulation that will push them out of the market,' Pai said. 'As a result, Americans will have fewer broadband choices. This is no accident. Title II was designed to regulate a monopoly. If we impose that model on a vibrant broadband marketplace, a highly regulated monopoly is what we'll get.'"

According to the article, "the plan described by Wheeler would ban wired and wireless ISPs like Verizon, AT&T, Comcast and Time Warner Cable from establishing tiered lanes of service speeds with varying prices for content creators like Netflix, Google, YouTube, Facebook and others based on speed and bandwidth use. It would also prevent ISPs from throttling, segregating or blocking traffic.

"'Courts have twice thrown out the FCC's attempts at Internet regulation,' Pai said, recalling the lawsuit that struck down the FCC's Internet authority last year, setting off the year-long debate. 'There's no reason to think that the third time will be the charm. Even a cursory look at the plan reveals glaring legal flaws that are sure to mire the agency in a muck of litigation for a long, long time.'

"Industry lobbyists, lawmakers and regulators aligned with Pai have accused the FCC -- an independent government agency -- of bending to the White House's will with the plan, which includes virtually all of the proposals advocated by President Obama last year."

Here's hoping Obama's plan to regulate the Internet does not go through. But, I suppose, if it does, when it all comes out in the wash, it's going to be Bush's fault or the Republicans' fault, just like those measles outbreaks we're having right now in America. Thank goodness, Ben Carson put that one to rest! Truly, let's hope that Pai and those aligned with him against Wheeler and Obama win this one!

Title 2 was designed to regulate a monopoly, and broadband is a monopoly. Where most Americans live there is only one broadband provider, if this is not the description of a public utility monopoly exactly what is? Wake up folks, Pai is nothing but a shill for Comcast.

I disagree with you that there is only one broadband provider for MOST Americans. Most Americans seem to live in cities or their suburbs, and I'll wager there are 10-15 providers in every city and its suburbs. I live in the hinterlands, sparse population by most people's standards and we have 5 providers I can name, and I haven't gone hunting for more - so there probably ARE more out there.

Exactly where do you get your ideas about THIS and most things you talk about?

Come on, tell me Kevyn do you think the plan that Obama proposes is a good thing? I'm happy with my service, why would I want to go back to what I had before. The Turtle days are over, I think that this is an attempt to equalize us to the Third World countries.

You bet your sweet bippy, it is unAmerican. Dictatorial governments (ours included) ALWAYS RESTRICT SUCCESS because it success puts incompetent government to shame and PRIDE and POWER make governments dictatorial.........that is why I would prefer anarchy (NO RULER) world wide.

A monopoly is run by one so where do you get monopoly from? Apple is closer to a monopoly than any ISP. If the government gets in hands into this you'll see a monopoly and will soon see one price and Comcast like service.

   Good point. But it is even scarier than that. Obama wants control over all media so he can brainwash and control all Americans. He is pure evil like Hitler and so many other evil dictators throughout history following the same methods.
