Instead of "school choice" why not correct the real problem --------- take the government out of schools.
Let the state's take over AND fire the teachers who don't teach.
HELLO............seems a no brained to me. There has to be some way to legally break the unions who take care of failed teachers.

True and then we have to try and correct college after that.

They are so half baked in college - that will be a real challenge. Since my daughter just graduated, she said she is not anxious to go back into that environment. Each division has their own little 'fiefdom,' they are petty, and live in a bubble.

If school is taught right, by the time get get out of high school have them know what those blind birds would try to indoctrinate them with, and they may find college is not necessary.

College would not be half bad if they could just rid themselves of this liberal platform that so many have adopted is preference to teaching their students to think rationally and to perform at the peak of their abilities.

In medical school they should be taught medicine and the human body etc. and how to cure the many illnesses that can affect it.

In engineering schools math would be the heavy there as well as design theory in certain aspects. Wind resistance and how to reduce the effect of wind on a vehicle or airplane. Statics and strength of materials and things like that.

Liberal arts and studies of that nature should all but be abandoned in the hopes of our children gaining some useful knowledge from school to further their lives and to provide their families with a better income. Somehow we have allowed the liberal arts to permeate all of the colleges today and the new age indoctrination permeates as well.

Journalism should be teaching the children to tackle the hard subjects with truth and objectivity so as to allow the reader to draw their own conclusion and not to force the reader to agree with you. To get back to the older style of journalism and do away with the liberal viewpoints.

But alas I see that even the colleges that were once Christian in nature are becoming more and more secular. I don't really have an answer than above.

Letting the state "take over" hardly seems the best solution, considering how states have managed other public services in the past.

And while I'm not knowledgeable abut how unions impact the retention of poor teachers, I certainly think there needs to be a fair evaluation system that rewards the best teachers.

To that end, for the life of me I can't understand why we are not shooting for a system that pays good teachers a living wage. We're trusting them to form and guide the next generation...I think they should be the best-paid jobs on the planet.

I agree with you, particularly when it comes to rational thought to solve problems, not all arrive at a 'liberal' conclusion.

TTU started out Ag and Engineering, now most of the Engineering students are foreigners, very few Americans. Is that because of the 'new math?'

Liberal Arts is now very aptly named - it's all liberal.

And journalism, as it was in the day of Cronkite. Now, it's spun to their bias.

You send them to college, then have to bring them home every week-end to deprogram indoctrination. SAD - right!

We are supposed to close our schools to foreigners? They are the only ones with the cash to pay for college!

Have you ever noticed that those so vehemently opposed to Charter Schools and school choice all send their offspring to private schools?

I didn't send my children to private schools. They went to public school and got a good education because their teachers were great. I don't know when it happened but somewhere along the way colleges are failing our young people.

Now days the professors are only interested in teaching liberalism. Granted there are good professors out there by they are few and far between.

What happened to teachers probably started when the main news stations decided not to report the news but to give their opinion instead.

The world was a far better place when I was growing up.

Many grandchildren will be going to college soon and I hate that they will be brainwashed by the liberal professors.

This country is going down hill.
