Your mindless violence is not consistent with our democracy. Blind attacks are usually not very effective although some people find some joy in the process as long as they and their children are not involved and it doesn't cost tax money.

mindless violence? you have an enemy who hides their equipment in schools and hospitals, and you think they wont be shelled? war is not a political game. it's nasty and deadly. you people that sit on your butts and think that you can talk your way through any situation aren't
t right in the head. the enemy would love for you to keep your mouth jacking away as long as they can keep you talking. that way they can keep things going the way they want. look at Russia, peace deal after peace deal , violation after violation. Palistine , Iran, all of these nations will do the same thing. but you think that if you talk nice and be polite , they'll go along with what ever you say in the end. well, the end is when they drop the big one on Israel. they will kill their own people to destroy Israel. you think that's bullshit? they kill themselves as suicide bombers to kill a dozen people. their belief their going to heaven to be with Allah, as a marter you can bet a years wages on it. they will kill hundereds of thousands of their own people as marters to destroy Israel. you would be very blind if you think they would never do such a thing. you do not and can not barter with a mad - man. they will tell you what you want to hear and carry on as they want. just a little more sneakily .you can take your political correctness and diplomacy and through them in the garbage when it comes to Iran, the Palistinians and isis. they are hell bent on destroying Israel and the U.S.A. one last thing, I have served in the U.S. Army, I did my stretch in Viet Nam. politicians haveno place in a war. let the militaries do what is needed and get the job done, then come home

The last war of attrition was WWII which we just happened to win -- go figure. If the "war with terror," which for those of you who are blind is actually a war with Islam, is not one of attrition, we will surely lose.

RESPONSE:

A lot of people have the Rambo complex with the bluster and bully approach. That John Wayne approach worked at one time in our evolution, but in world in which one trigger happy macho man has the power to eliminate all human life, we need a nuanced and rational approach. I think we are smarter than to seek self destruction even if it might make us feel less vulnerable in the short time.

The first step is to knock off the tough guy stance and begin to use our brains.

To allow someone to enslave you in hope they will not carry out a death threat is neither nuanced or rational.......it is deluded.

don't be so negative. we just need to get all those bleeding heart ass-wipes out of office get some real people up there and turn the militaries loose to do what's needed to be done. it is not possible to negotiate with a mad-man. everyone who wants to live by sharia law can go back to the middle east and there they can live happily ever after under their tyranny and believe what ever they are told to believe.

"Turning the military loose to do what is needed to be done" is contrary to our Constitution and is contrary to democracy. I think most of us want to uphold our government and support our Constitution. Democracy is sometimes messy and doesn't satisfy all the desires of all of us, but it is the best system humans have come up with so far.

If we got rid of all of our representative who are not doing exactly what we want them to do and we fired them all and replaced them, what makes you believe we would we make better choices than we did before? How could we make sure those replacements would better meet our expectations?

You have apparently chosen a wide range of people with a label and think of them as being all the same in beliefs, intentions, needs, etc. I you could only claim that some Muslims hide weapons in hospitals and schools and want to kill us, I would agree with you, but I can't believe even many Muslims are our enemies and should be eliminated.

This is very true. It seems that the a majority of our representatives are representing the interest of our rulers rather that the people. No matter who we elect its just more of the same.

I agree and am interested in solutions to the problem. Our rulers are rapidly taking full charge and making even more unilateral decisions and we seem helpless to do anthing about it. However, I haven't given up and I think we will come up to solutions to the problem. One reason we have been at the mercy of our rulers is that they have gotten us to fight with each other and not notice what is happening and what we can do about it. As Long as we buy into what they are propagandizing us to fight among our selves, Democrats vs Republicans, liberals vs conservatives, the haves and the have nots, people who receive public assistance and people with whom we disagree as evil, stupid, no goods, Our rulers will continue to control us.

when there is an imenant threat to the U.S.A. it is the duty of the "commander an chief" to mobilize the militaries to protect this nation. if I tell you I'm going to kill you as a mad man and if I knew where you lived , would I pose a threat to you? yes and you would be able to defend yourself, by any means needed. Isis and other extremist groups have in the past expressed their desire to destroy Israel, and the United States of America. Isis alqida, book haram, want their way of life to be world wide. their religion is wrong. no I do not want to kill every Muslim. but they can keep their religion to themselves. they can also quit trying to push their sharia law into our state and government laws. their no-one special. they want everyone to live under sharia law they can go back to the middle east and live as happily as a rat in a cheese factory. I do not trust them. it is something in their own writings that has come to my attention that leaves me with doughts about anything they say as being true. if I am wrong so be it. until them I have to wonder if anything they say can be taken as truth or just a lie to get what they want. as for the extremist. to bad we mothballed all of them b-52's. the people left alive in their territories have believed as they do or have converted and should be cosedered enemies of the state. I think we should carpet bomb the whole fucking area and kill everyone of them murderous bastards. diplomacy will not and does not work when dealing with a mad-man.

no I don't think all muslims would take the course as Isis or boko haram or hessbala but I do believe that all of these groups are hell-bent on destroying Israel and then the U.S.A. and to convert everyone to their way of believing, or DIE. and I think they should all DIE. you can not reason with them you can not do anything with them except to fight them and kill them. all of them each and every one of them. or in time they will return to start again.

Of course not all Muslims would take the cowards course. This may be true but we can not deny what the Koran reads, infidels must be converted or killed.

Glaucon, I am happy to see you call Democracy the best system that humans have come up with so far. I was beginning to think you were against it. Now if we can get a congress that will enforce that and a president who will back it, we might get somewhere. As an economist, I would like to see us listen to Milton Friedman when they make laws up there on the hill. I know you probably wouldn't agree with that but that's just my opinion. Lots of other things could be done to move us in the right direction, also. Junking PC for one.

Milton Friedman is at the root of our present difficulties. Him and his deregulations of every thing under the sun and his advocacy of privatization of even the national park system for Christ sakes
