Thomas Jefferson
This is amazing. There are two parts. Be sure to read the 2nd part.Thomas Jefferson was a very remarkable man who started learning very early in life and never stopped. At 5, began studying under his cousin's tutor. At 9, studied Latin, Greek and French. At 14,studied classical literature and additional languages. At 16, entered the College of William and Mary. Also could write in Greek with one hand while writing the same in Latin with the other. At 19, studied Law for 5 years starting under George Wythe. At 23, started his own law practice. At 25, was elected to the Virginia House of Burgesses.
At 31, wrote the widely circulated "Summary View of the Rights of British America ? And retired from his law practice. At 32, was a Delegate to the Second Continental Congress. At 33, wrote the Declaration of Independence. At 33, took three years to revise Virginia's legal code and wrote a Public Education bill and a statute for Religious Freedom. At 36, was elected the second Governor of Virginia succeeding Patrick Henry.

At 40, served in Congress for two years. At 41, was the American minister to France and negotiated commercial treaties with European nations along with Ben Franklin and John Adams. At 46, served as the first Secretary of State under George Washington.

At 53, served as Vice President and was elected president of the American Philosophical Society. At 55, drafted the Kentucky Resolutions and became the active head of Republican Party. At 57, was elected the third president of the United States.

At 60, obtained the Louisiana Purchase doubling the nation's size. At 61, was elected to a second term as President. At 65, retired to Monticello.

At 80, helped President Monroe shape the Monroe Doctrine. At 81, almost single-handedly created the University of Virginia and served as its first president. At 83, died on the 50th anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence along with John Adams.

Thomas Jefferson knew because he himself studied the previous failed attempts at government. He understood actual history, the nature of God, his laws and the nature of man. That happens to be way more than what most understand today. Jefferson really knew his stuff. A voice from the past to lead us in the future:
John F. Kennedy held a dinner in the white House for a group of the brightest minds in the nation at that time. He made this statement: "This is perhaps the assembly of the most intelligence ever to gather at one time in the White House with the exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone."

"When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe ."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world."
-- Thomas Jefferson

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."
-- Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson said in 1802: "I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property - until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers

No one should ever dispute the brilliance of Thomas Jefferson, nor minimize his contributions to this nation. JFK's quote sums it up.

Quite probably the greatest Founding Father, IMO. Certainly on a very short list.

He also wrote that there is no remedy for corruption except by way of removal. He wasn't talking about just elections. He was talking about judicial process or by force by "we the people".

Good day.

Talking about it ain't gonna get it done.
We are in the removal by force stage.
But we Americans are in a POC(position of comfort)and are denying the fact corruption is @ a level that is going to take this nation down the tubes even before another election.
This is the same thing that happened during the American revolution. Most stayed home by a warm fire, with their families while the brave endowed with the truth about what it would take to obtain freedom & liberty from a British tyrannical government. They experienced frozen feet, hands, hunger, worried about their families, who would take care of them if he as a soldier didn't survive the battle. These things weighed out against the above mentioned & they chose to fight for freedom and obtain it @ any cost.
Also they had true American leadership who was willing to go through the icy dangerous Deleware river in the battle stragedy. George Washington could see freedom after the battle.
So there you have it folks. You can try to explain it all away with worthless excuses to remain in your POC, but still DUTY TO DEFEND THIS NATION AT ANY COST is still there.
To ignore this DUTY, we as a people have sold our children & nation to a tyrannical life style.
We need to look @ ourselves. Even if it does turn out to be solved @ the voting poles, we need to show up to vote. To get puffed up & refuse to vote because we disagree with some minor issues is treasonous & a neglect of duty. It may not be all of what we NEED to do, but @ least do what & all we can do for now. I don't like GOP choices either, but to "not show up to vote" is a neglect of duty.

Good day.

Life Belongs to the Living – Jan. 18, 2015 @ 10 AM
I have been trying to figure out what is wrong with the Federal Government, and prove the case. So, I have been reading the writings of the Founding Fathers. As it turns out Jefferson had it pretty well figured out, and he specified a structure that is somewhat different from what we have now.
The first fact that should be held foremost in mind is that the Founders wanted to build a Government that worked for the People rather than for the Insiders . Their view was that a Government is necessary to protect us from all of the other Governments out there. It is to stand between us and them .
Second, they wanted to build one entity that had all of the Powers needed, but would not become tyrannical . There definition of a tyrant was an autocrat that can make policy and implement it . For this reason they divided the Powers between two branches of the same Government . So, they specified one set of powers with half of them in each of two equal branches. The two branches have different parts of the same set of Powers .
They wrote in the Constitution that the President has all Executive Powers and the Legislature can Order, Resolve, Vote, and Pass Bills to Raise Revenue . There is some misunderstanding about what that means and how to structure a Government that can implement it. Jefferson clarified the question as an aside to James Madison. James had reported to Jefferson, in Paris. that the Constitutional Congress had adjourned with a strong contingent advocating for a Bill of Rights . So, Jefferson suggested one , and as an aside he said that it would go well with what they had already put into the Constitution. “For example,” he said, “they had controlled the Dog of War by separating those who declare war from those who pay for it.” He then clarified this further in the phrase, “from those who are to spend, to those who are to pay.”
The Power to declare War resides in Congress , so Congress is to Pay. There is no overlap of Powers . The one set of Powers is divided between the two Branches. Congress gets the Power to Raise Revenue and Pay. They do not get the Power to Spend. Spending is Executive. The President specifies: what will be purchased, from whom, for what price, and Congress has nothing to say about it because the Powers are divided. I cannot imagine that the Founding Fathers would have thought it a good idea to have 5340 thumbs and figures in the Revenue Pie.
Spending is not Appropriating. The word Appropriating derives from the French to Own. It means to take exclusive possession of . I found one definition that said, “To go in without permission and seize, particularly in a high handed manner .” It is synonymous with Usurp.
Congress recently passed something they called a Spending Bill which they named The Cromnibus. This is a blatant violation of the Constitution. This action should be stuck down.
Call upon the Court! Sincerely, Richard W. Mondale
