I understand how frustrating it is for you that half the people in this country don't agree with you. I have that same feeling, but from the other side. That being the case, maybe we are just going to have to learn to live in peace with each other and try to get something done for the good of the country. There is plenty to do, and unlike some people, I am not ready to wait for Armageddon to solve our problems.

If you check into most of the polls you will see blacks (after seeing just how bad he is doing ) will STILL vote 75-80 favorably for him---i think that pretty much explains how his numbersare coming up, plus the ignorance of much of the people ( I saw a poll where 76% of students could not name the country we gained ourindependance from), nevermind the more serious issues!!!!

I think they will, I just wish it happens soon!!

First of all, I don't think that would explain the rise in Obama's favorable ratings, unless there are suddenly a lot more black people. I think Obama has been too cautious and tried too hard to reach consensus through his whole presidency, and is finally deciding that won't work with the congress we have, and that change accounts for his rising approval rating.

Second, I think there is just as much ignorance among Republican voters as among Democrats.

I sure don't agree with you on that. 1. I think the pollers are calling less than a good cross-section of America. 2. It amazes me you think 0vomit has 'tried' to do anything constructive with the relationship with anything or any body, or even the body of Representatives.

Either you can't face the truth that he has been a total trainwreck for this country, or you are seriously disillusioned about him - or you could be a troll trying to calm the waters and glean info for a traitor. Any way you want to cut it, you're way off base on 0vomit's goals.
As for the favorable ratings - that all depends on who does the polling and what areas they poll in, and you know that.

Fudging the unemployment figures also helps.

Yeah, I sure have not been polled, and I think my husband was once, but that was an election thing and he just laughed at them and hung up.

I believe this number includes beneficiaries of public housing programs, Medicaid, "other cash assistance" programs, and the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program as well as beneficiaries of TANF, SSI and SNAP. And I doubt that the 54,000,000 on food stamps is an ADDITIONAL number. I suspect a lot of these people are on "welfare" AND qualify for food stamps.

I agree that this number is far too large, but what needs to be done to change it? Just letting kids starve because their parents are unable or unwilling to work doesn't seem like a solution to me. I think it is part of the problem that is also illustrated by the number of able-bodied people who are not working and not looking for work. We need to find a way both to create more jobs and to change the culture that says a life without work is okay. Not easy to do. In spite of the bad rap Johnson's "war on poverty" gets, I think there is some evidence that it was making a difference. But we seem to have given up trying to solve the problem. It's easier just to complain about the lazy good-for-nothings who aren't like us.

Whatever the solution is, it will not come from the Federal Government. It should be handled by ones family, if possible. Then there are charitable organizations. Then the city or state can step in if necessary. It should not go beyond that.

I guess that the recent rise in polls is due to Obama's promises of more free stuff. He wants to give everyone a free college education and he want to raise taxes on the rich to give tax breaks to the middle class. He knows that none of that will ever get through congress, but having his proposals blasted across the liberal media gets people excited, at least all those who sucker for free stuff. Unfortunately, too much of America can't see beyond their own selfish desires. It's the "ME" culture. Promise ME free stuff and I will support you. Who cares if it bankrupts the country, it's all about ME.

Just saw the last Rasmussen pole. Had him at 48%. Traditionally Rasmussen runs 3 to 5 % more favorable then national average.

It is simply mind boggling that there are enough idiots out there to give him even that high an approval rating. Atheists believe that we are evolving. Here is proof that the opposite is happening.

I am not a big believer in poles. The demographics can be taken in a way to give the pollster more of what he wants. I mean the last mid term polls had the Republicans up just 2% in favorability then the Democrats. Yet the Republicans had a landslide victory. Seems strange polls are reaching a high point right before this State of the Union address which is nothing but a propaganda speech for low info voters.
