@Tasiine: no one's telling you to love anyone. You make assumptions and put words in others' mouths, i guess to justify your narrow views. There are DECENT and DECADENT people in almost every group of people, conservatives included. Deny it at your own peril.

Excuse me, but I never used the word "good" in my comment. I used the word "decent", and by "decent", I mean respect for others, DECENCY RATHER THAN DECADENCE. "GOOD" is YOUR word, not mine. The meaning of the word "good" is up for grabs. I believe everyone knows decency when he sees it and knows decadence when he sees it.

1. Explain how taking at gun point one's property or earnings to give to someone else (theft) is GOOD......OR DECENT. Everyone in the world supports that policy EXCEPT conservatives. I find this policy disgustingly evil. Are you saying I should LOVE those who want to steal from me to give MY earnings to those who will not try to help themselves? Are you kidding? If I walked up to you with a gun and demanded your money, you'd have me arrested.....so for me to do what YOUR government is doing would be criminal, but I should LOVE my government for doing it? You support YOUR gang of thieves but would throw me in jail for doing the exact same thing........and you want me to LOVE you for that?! I may be strange, but crazy I am NOT.

2. Explain how appeasing dictators around the world under the guise of "showing them that America isn't mean" should make me LOVE the idiots doing the appeasing. I find this particularly stupid and a true insult to all Americans. PLease don't tell me you BELIEVE this is a policy that works!! Sure puts America in a true bind, though, and vulnerable to attack. I should love those who endanger me and mine?! WHY should ANYONE LOVE PEOPLE LIKE THAT? That policy is begging for another attack on American soil, but I should LOVE all who support appeasement? Uh-uh.

3. Please explain what the good is in GOVERNMENT dictating to citizens the most mundane idiocy. You think I should LOVE the people who remove my God given rights? Are you totally insane?! I want to be able to protect myself, but my government wants me to be vulnerable, and YOU support policies that will leave me helpless?! Yet you think I should LOVE you for doing this to me?! Please tell me why I should NOT hate all who would disarm otherwise helpless people.

Let me shorten this for you: why should I have any respect for those who have no respect for me? Why should ANYONE allow others to dictate what they can and cannot do when the dictators have no cause - AND NO RIGHT - to dictate?

I trust conservatives because every one of them is in agreement with me, and I trust no others because they are not my friends, my companions and they are NOT in my corner.........they are the enemy of America and Americans, and most of them are too stupid to even KNOW what they are supporting. You could be one of them. I suspect you are.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ br Excuse me, but... (show quote)
As if on cue we are told we are "narrow minded" if we deign to point out the ugly truth that as you say all those on the political spectrum who are not conservatives work tirelessly to make the almighty state our overseer. How dare we not just shut up and let statism roll over us. When people act in a manner that is counter productive to freedom and liberty, when they lie continually and cheat, yet demand we have confidence in them because of their positions, they deserve to be called what they are and always have been, power hungry despots who con useful idiots into selling themselves and their neighbors out for empty promises. I'm with you, if you want to collaborate with collectivists you deserve no respect, or consideration, claiming good intentions is no longer enough to override the evil you promote
In a stark outlook and set of predictions for 2015, former Congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul cautioned that America has descended into a police state where liberties are “under siege” and further violent events and inner city turmoil, such as that seen in Ferguson, were likely to occur:
If Americans were honest with themselves they would acknowledge that the Republic is no more. We now live in a police state. If we do not recognize and resist this development, freedom and prosperity for all Americans will continue to deteriorate. All liberties in America today are under siege.
It didn’t happen overnight. It took many years of neglect for our liberties to be given away so casually for a promise of security from the politicians. The tragic part is that the more security was promised — physical and economic — the less liberty was protected.
[...]
This is especially noticeable in the police war on the lawbreakers — real and unreal — in America. The failures of social and economic policy of the past 50 years have led to a mounting friction between the local police and the rights of the people. Local police have been militarized and have become an integral part of the national police state. A police culture that accepts the principle of initiating unjustified violence against citizens has become a serious problem.
The news is constant. If it’s not Ferguson, it’s New York City. If not New York City, it’s Chicago or Detroit or Cleveland. And I believe the violence in our cities is only in its early stages. We had a taste of the conflict in the 1960s, but the fundamental values of equal justice and economic opportunity have receded further from reality. Failing to understand why the past 50 years of government expansion to eradicate poverty has only worsened the conditions of our cities will guarantee that the violent conflicts we see erupting today will only get worse.
In a lengthy essay, Ron Paul spells out much of the bigger picture problems that have created fractures in a system that is doomed to fail, and designed to divide and conquer the population as it comes apart through an orchestrated game of musical chairs. <snip>
What's narrow-minded is painting an entire group of people with the same broad brush. That's all. You folks get so defensive. I agree with your comment here, and political oppurtunists of all stripes are guilty. What's so difficult about acknowledging this simple fact?
Legislatively, liberals do way more for people that are less fortunate than conservatives...go all the way back to Social Security moving forward...all liberal policies...liberals are willing to do more than just hand people a little chump change. We try to provide things that are life changing...and despite the right's exaggeration of welfare abuse...welfare has helped many from homelessness and to get a leg up for progress to be made in their lives.
And in the real world conservatives do way more for people that are less fortunate than liberals. We just do it with our own money, not the taxpayers.
It is NOT narrow-minded to paint an entire group of people with the same broad brush if the entire group is dangerous to you. It is NOT narrow minded to paint an entire group of people with the same broad brush if the entire group despises you. Don't GET IT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Do you paint all Nazis with the same brush? If not, why not? Were some of them good people? If they were good people, why did they support Nazism? If progressives are good people, why do they demand to steal my possessions and take my God given rights? You call that being a "good person". I paint all thieves with the same brush, LOGICALLY. lI paint all senseless murderers with the same broad brush.......what about them would cause me to paint some as good and some as bad? I paint all decadent and crude people with the same brush - I cannot imagine why I should NOT.
What exactly do you mean "What's narrow-minded is painting an entire group of people with the same broad brush." When they all support the same things what exactly is wrong with painting them with the same brush? How could one paint them differently?
