Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., unveiled the tax plan on Monday at the Center for American Progress.

His plan would give a tax credit of roughly $2,000 per year to middle-class families, reportedly defined as couples making under $200,000. According to The Washington Post, the windfall would add up to roughly $1.2 trillion over the next decade.

However, to pay for the plan, Van Hollen wants to charge a fee on financial transactions, and curtail tax breaks for other top earners, effectively transferring wealth from Wall Street and beyond to everyone else.

We're still waiting for that $2500 savings!

Don't hold your breath for the republicans to give any tax relief to the lower or middle class or to raise rates for top earners.

The bottom 50 percent of workers pay only 3 percent of taxes. Maybe you would like the top 10 percent to pay for everything, giving 90 percent of workers a free ride. Why do you feel that you shouldn't have to pay your fair share?

I do pay my fair share. Like Buffets secretary, I pay a higher percentage than he does.

All we seem to receive from democrats is lip service. Did you receive your $2500 savings?

Wow, you are earning a whopping big salary to be paying 21 percent like Buffet's secretary. I thought I was doing pretty well in life, but you have me beat. I never paid 21 percent. I am truly impressed with your earning power. BTW, Buffet pays 31 percent.

It amazed me too. Normally I just take the stuff somewhere, get it prepared, sign it and forget it. I looked at the info I got with last years return, and shouted, "I paid that percentage." Doesn't take that much to get there when you have no deductions.
