A challenge: dispute with sources that the states with the looses gun laws are safest

Here is a good start: Louisiana has the loosest gun laws in the country and is considered, by stats, to be the most violent state in the nation.

Fact One: the NRA is not honest.

Fact Two: Loose gun laws put more citizens at risk of violent crime.

Every indication over four decades measuring twenty indices for violence and crime, states with lenient gun control have far more violence and crime.

Copy and paste from http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2013/04/03/1811311/study-states-with-loose-gun-laws-have-higher-rates-of-gun-violence/

The National Rifle Association (NRA) and its allies in Congress frequently claim that gun violence is highest in places with the toughest crime laws. But a new study from the Center for American Progress (CAP) suggests something closer to the opposite is true — the states with laxer gun laws tend to be the ones contributing the highest shares of national gun deaths and injuries.

The authors of the report, called “America Under The Gun,” developed a list of ten indices of gun violence, ranging from gun homicide levels to firearm assaults to crime gun export rate (the number of guns sold in that state used in crimes around the country), and ranked each state from 1-50 along each index. They then took the average of each state’s ranking to determine its overall level of gun violence relative to other states. Lousiana was the highest, with an average of fifth-worst across all ten indices, while Hawaii’s 45.4 ranking was the best.

A statistical regression comparing these rankings with strength of gun law found a correlation between weak gun laws and violence levels as measured by the 10-index average. Comparing a state’s relative ranking in strength of gun law (as judged by the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence) to a state’s relative gun violence ranking yielded clear evidence that states with looser gun laws contributed more to the national gun violence epidemic:

While many factors contribute to the rates of gun violence in any state, our research clearly demonstrates a significant correlation between the strength of a state’s gun laws and the prevalence of gun violence in the state. Across the key indicators of gun violence that we analyzed, the 10 states with the weakest gun laws collectively have a level of gun violence that is more than twice as high—104 percent higher—than the 10 states with the strongest gun laws.

Here is the map:

The CAP report’s finding is yet another contribution to a growing body of empirical evidence that strong gun laws work. A prior, less comprehensive study also established links between gun deaths and loose gun laws. After Missouri repealed its background check law, gun homicides went up 25 percent despite a national and regional decline. Three independent papers have found that counties with more guns have higher rates of gun death.

The NRA has long attempted to use Congressional funding restrictions to cripple research on gun violence on grounds that it “may be used to advocate or promote” new gun laws.

“Considered by stats” whose stats? Yours?

I haven’t seen ANY of your posts contain links to facts to back up your statements. Don't post a link to a left wing propaganda site, I won't consider opening it, even for entertainment purposes. You post nothing more than lies & stupidity. You should not be allowed to vote; you are too stupid.

Hemorrhoid, I’ll tell you who is in charge of keeping crime statistic records for the US and it aint a Left wing propaganda outfit; it is the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Here is a link to some of the reports available as tables in Excel or PDF. http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/nibrs/2013/data-tables

You weren’t very specific with your description of ‘violent’, so I’ll cover them all.

Homicides – Louisiana ranks 22nd, Michigan 1st.
Assault offenses – Louisiana ranks 25th, Tennessee 1st.
Rape – Louisiana ranks 30th, Michigan 1st.
Kidnapping – Louisiana ranks 32nd, Ohio 1st.
Total crimes against persons – Louisiana ranks 26th, Michigan 1st.

The data above came from this Excel table - http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/nibrs/2013/tables/crimes-against-persons-offenses-offense-category-by-state-2013

Also available as a PDF - http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/nibrs/2013/table-pdfs/crimes-against-persons-offenses-offense-category-by-state-2013

I would suggest you quit reading ‘data’ from those propaganda websites, grow a brain and start researching data from a trusted, reliable source. If you are buying into the propaganda (which you obviously are), and the facts show something completely different, how stupid does that make you? That was rhetorical, don’t answer.

Well the Center for American Progress publishes yet one more false report. No surprise after all it's Obama's favorite left wing "think tank". The center has been busted twice before for publishing fake reports. Once on Sen. Paul Ryan and the other on Rep. Michele Bachmen, Which the CAP did apologize for.
However not all their reports are forged, this is true, they proposed this in 2013 ; the Center for American Progress, has a new ingenious plan to lower gun deaths in Chicago: raise the minimum wage. CAP’s Decades of research have demonstrated that there is a statistically significant link between low wages, income inequality and crime. Researchers have found that the majority of increases in violent crime can be explained by downward wage trends.Hell, lets give the entire country a large raise and stop all gun violence.

You miss the point and this is usual for the Right: make a new topic they can talk about.

Has anything you said or provided had to do with the question 'that the states with the looses gun laws are safest or not'?

I get your point now; when you dismiss murder, robbery, assault, rape, and kidnapping, Louisiana is not a safe place to be.

Please don’t tell me you reproduced.

If you restricted ownership of guns to old white guys all the problems would go away. No more mental defects taking liberal mommy's guns and shooting up schools. No more black on black or black on white crime. Hell, old white guys ran the country for 200 years and the country was fine. Now all the freaks and geeks get their panties in a bunch and whine poor me over stupid shit. It's about America, not your freak agendas.

No he won't, because he will wine about the cops not being there to protect him and that this guy with a gun is the reason ALL the people need to have their guns taken away. He can't understand that the people that register guns are the good guys and NEVER rob people, but the facts get in his way. He is crying about ANYONE having a a gun and wants them all taken away so he can live in peace, never thinking that the same person that robbed him never registered that gun and is not allowed to have it in the first place, because he has a felon record.

He lives in a liberal area of the country that has tight gun controls and is worried that someone from an area with loose guns laws will come into his area and rob him. The facts simply get in his way and he is never going to think before he acts about most things, like guns.

What he really wants to see is liberal sites posted that back up his stupidity and his liberal site that will not tell you the truth about anything, but especially guns.

In short, he is nothing but another progressive that wants everyone's guns taken away because HE don't like them. He doesn't really care about the truth, he wants things his way and ONLY his way. He will not accept the truth, so it doesn't do any good to try and reach him. He simply will not listen and already knows better then anyone else that guns are bad. They are bad because HE says so and he will continue to back up his statements with lies and half truths that the liberal press puts out.
