FOX Demolishes CNN and MSNBC in 2014


Fox News has been a blessing for conservatives fed up with the tired liberal lies of the so-called mainstream media. And though the channel has been successful for nearly its entire history, 2014 kept the juggernaut rolling in a big way. Competing against CNN and MSNBC, the conservative-leaning channel demolished the competition. Of course, Fox News could play nothing but reruns of old Cronkite newscasts and still come out ahead of the other two awful excuses for cable journalism.

Particularly on the decline is CNN. Though the Ted Turner brainchild always had the typical left-wing bent expected of American news, they decided 2014 was the year they were going to turn themselves into a complete joke. With their Naked Gun-esque coverage of the MH370 mystery, their sickeningly-biased approach to the Ferguson case, and – according to some – the worst journalist of the year (Don Lemon) hosting in primetime, CNN shed the last remaining remnants of a once-decent reputation.

MSNBC doesn’t really have a reputation to lose, but 2014 was another bad year for the unabashed liberals over there as well. A recent survey of the three cable news networks exposed MSNBC has having the least actual “news” of any of them; according to the investigation, only 15% of their total content fits that definition. The rest is opinion, and it’s apparently not an opinion too many Americans care to hear. With a dreadful lineup that includes the illiterate Al Sharpton, the insufferable Chris Hayes, and the unwatchable Ronan Farrow, the network continues to struggle. Even Rachel Maddow, who at least brings some semblance of intelligence to the table, is hemorrhaging viewers who have grown tired of the channel’s unrelenting liberalism.

The 2014 total daily viewer averages look like this:

Fox News: 1,052,000

CNN: 399,000

MSNBC: 347,000

As you can see, Fox News isn’t in danger of being caught anytime soon. And that brings up a good question: if America is really split down the middle the way the polls always show, why is Fox News so much more popular than its liberal-leaning competitors? Is it because liberals don’t watch TV? Is it because Fox News does a better job of delivering some actual news to go with their opinion shows?

I think it might be a little of both, but the more important factor may be a simpler one: Fox News is still – many years after its debut – a complete anomaly on television. Nowhere else can conservatives go on the dial to hear intelligent conversations without the usual liberal narrative. Sure, there are a handful of reality shows that feature conservatives, but you’re hardly going to turn on 19 Kids and Counting for a recap of the day’s events.

Fox News did something extraordinary and special when they came on the air, and they remain committed to that mission today. Plus, even a liberal would have to admit that Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity are a hell of a lot more entertaining than Al Sharpton and Chris Hayes. And, frankly, Megyn Kelly is a lot easier on the eyes than any of them.

Cable news is down in numbers altogether this year, and that trend is probably not going to reverse itself. With more and more people cutting the cord, turning to independent media outlets, and using the Internet for their news, cable in general is probably not long for this world. In the meantime, CNN and MSNBC had better think up a new strategy. “Be less ridiculous” might be a good place to start.

From My Point of View: The 50 - 50 split is more working Americans and non Working Americans... I'll call it a cultural thing... Right or Wrong there are people who are in the "Plantation Mentality" because that's how they were raised... We only have to go back 3 or 4 generations to FDR who started this idea of "Uncle Sugar" will care for you as long as they keep voting them back into office... The 3 biggest racist in the Democrat Party till Carter and then Clinton (both phony as a $3 bill), and now Obama... Woodrow Wilson was a "Progressive Racist", FDR was a "Liberal Racist" and LBJ was a "Lying Socialist Racist" (His Famous Line When Signing The Welfare Bill That Is Still With Us Today: "This Should Keep The Niggers Voting For Democrats For 50 Years!" Was Correct!!!), and now we have a true Red Communist Muslim in The W.H. and the bone head Liberals refuse to acknowledge all the damage he has done to America!!! So the short answer is I think there is a 50 - 50 split, BUT, now some of those Blacks who work in low paying jobs see Obama bring in Latinos to take those jobs from them so they may be less likely to vote for another Democrat for 1 or 2 cycles... Don D.

America the Offended: 2014′s Biggest Whiners

Home of the brave, it says in the national anthem. To me, the word “brave” carries with it certain connotations that go beyond the obvious. Sure, it means being willing to fight in the face of fear. Yes, it means being willing to stand up for one’s beliefs. But it goes beyond that. Would a brave man cry about his feelings getting hurt? Would a brave woman whine about someone else’s opinion? 2014 brought us a litany of people who can’t stand the idea that not everyone thinks the way they do. If it keeps up, we’ll have to change the song to “home of the offended.”

Oh No, a Shirt!

In November, British physicist Dr. Matt Taylor was forced to publicly apologize for wearing a shirt that offended over-sensitive feminists. The shirt, which was fun and loud, depicted women in a somewhat sexualized way. Since most Twitter complainers probably have no idea what Taylor’s Rosetta mission was all about, they instead chose to focus on the shirt. Sure, you landed a spaceship on a comet…but you forgot to check your privilege!

It’s Awful (Suddenly)!

This was also the year a slew of white liberals decided to be offended on behalf of Native Americans. Creating a controversy out of thin air, they launched an assault against the Washington Redskins, claiming that it was time for the football team’s mascot and name to be retired. Some media outlets even catered to them, refusing to say the name as if suddenly, now, in 2014, after 80-something years, it was offensive and racist.

Just Make It Up!

2014 saw “microaggressions” hit the mainstream, having somehow escaped the ghetto of gender studies classes where it should have been kept. Proving once and for all that the “social justice” movement is running on fumes, the term is used to condemn those behaviors that might seem innocuous…but are really quite offensive. Examples might include seating a black couple at a table that is arguably not the best one in the restaurant. Or mistaking a female doctor for a nurse. You might think these are innocent mistakes, but they are actually an “active manifestation of oppressive worldviews” according to Psychology Today. If you study them long enough, you can manage to be offended 24/7.

A Dark Turn

If liberals were good for anything in the past, they could usually be counted on to fight for free speech. No more. Today’s liberals want to curtail free speech at every turn, insisting that it’s more important to make sure everyone feels “included” and “welcome.” Well, as long as “everyone” means people who think and act just like them. It used to be a liberal virtue to stand up and fight for speech – especially that speech you disagreed with the most. Now they’re more concerned with finding out which minority group was most offended by a particular incident.

Liberalism has become a race to the bottom, with the winner being the person or group able to claim the most oppression for themselves. And since, by and large, America is not an oppressive country, they’ve been forced to take offense at the slightest of slights.

If only our forefathers could see us now.
