It is called "Congressional pay." Let those who vote it pay for it.

Back when the national debt hit "impossible to pay", I recomm ended that the debt be declared the child of the US Congress and the White House, and that all living, past and present government officials be charged the debt and that all salaries, all retirement benefits, all health insurance coverage, all protective details, all perks of office be withheld until such time as the obscene debt is paid in full.

Not a single one of us caused the runaway debt, and in my view not a single one of us owes a penny toward its repayment. How I would LOVE to see a MASSIVE SHOW OF DEFIANCE SHOWN BY EVERY TAXPAYER REFUSING TO FILE INCOME TAX REPORTS. Of course, at full speed, our income taxes don't make the payment now. I understand it only pays the interest, and now that the debt is into the heavens, I suspect our income taxes, while killing us, aren't doing a darned bit of good. ALL of us understand what enabling means, and I contend that our income taxes enable our elected officials to act irresponsibly, and nothing we say or do seems to do any good. So a different tack should be taken to get their attention. Perhaps an embarrassing showing of defiance would have a different effect.

Tasine, I've said the exact same thing for years. I would be glad to forgo any and all retirement and pension due me if only enough of the citizens would stand as one. Your correct, the politicians are the sole owners of this tragedy called "Americas " debt. The American people didn't run it up. Every politician, past and present should have all retirement, pension, healthcare etc. taken as well as every dime made during their stint in office. A hard days work is what's wrong with these people to begin with. Obama has never done a hard days work in his pathetic life. As well as the rest of the libs and many Republicans. Both sides are guilty.

Jefferson said, “We have already given, in example one effectual check to the Dog of war, by transferring the power of letting him loose from the Executive to the Legislative body; from those who are to spend to those who are to pay.” Let me paraphrase that, "The Power to declare War moves from the Executive who is to spend, to the Legislators who are to pay." Spending is an Executive Power. Revenue paying is a Legislative Power.
All Legislative Powers are ‘here in listed’ in Article 7. Congress is to pass Bills to Raise Revenue. That is like sending out invoices so they can get paid for services rendered. That would imply that the Government is supposed to do useful work, for pay.

Mr. Mondale sir, you're very correct. Especially the last sentence of your post, Supposed to do useful work. That would be equivalent to saying Obama has never lied.

Nope! (that's a negative opinion in shorthand).
The Government will just take it anyway. I think the objective verb is "Confiscatorial exercise." The verb is "objective" in more than one meaning.

And who in government do you perceive would be "embarrassed?"

Guess you got me. No one in government would be "embarrassed", but hopefully a few would be kicked out by voters, and I know that, too, is a far reach, but I will not sit idly by while the people we PAY to take care of stuff like that just sit and talk and drink and eat, and travel.

I'm with you on that. These elected rats have no shame.

From what I have seen, some voters have no shame. They re-elected those rats, in come cases many times.

And unfortunately for the United States, THAT WILL CONTINUE. Slaves vote for their masters, and all those on welfare programs who have communist congress people will vote those same people in until death do they part because a newbie in their district may stop some of that welfare, and they aren't about to allow that to happen. That is a pathetic comment on the American public, but it is the truth, sad to say.
