Cyber attacks are very real...Hit a few nuc plants and see how devastating it could be, like we didn't have that shut down last year believing it was Japan then either?? Or maybe 2 yrs ago? Can't remember..Anyway, its not why they did it, but the disclosure of the ability to do it at all...........

Do we feel warm and fuzzy now??

I also agree with this but I also agree with him on, at least, relaxing any trade embargo on Cuba. Just like with South Africa in the past, trade embargoes never hurt the leadership but the guy at the bottom. Face it, Fidel & Raul have dined on filets, caviar & champagne right through just like Stalin did.
:D :hunf: ;-) :D

Platitudes, platitudes, platitudes: 0vomit says what he has to say to say to keep everybody happy particularly when it is something like his beloved film industry. You note that the Koreans also threatened to attack the theaters that showed the film, and that 0vomit had the ignorance or the audacity, one or the other, (maybe both?) to tell people to continue going to the movies! (Think he cares about us? - HA! Guess again.) It was the movie makers that decided to not air the film!

L8erToots,

I feel like you apparently do, that we, as movie goers. should not allow a foreign country intimidate us.

However, I feel it was irresponsible for the president to encourage people to ignore the threat, not really knowing the real threat level. Whether you or I go to the movie should definitely be a PERSONAL CHOICE, not just a bravado bluster typical of this president.

As far as not proceeding with the opening, I suspect that was largely a financial decision by Sony, thinking that attendance would not be worth while because of the threat.

Everyone seems to forget that Sony is a Japanese company. Let the Japanese government take care of it

I think the best approach would be for SONY to put the movie up on the internet for free and let anyone in the world download and watch it. If they are going to take a finical loss anyway, they should shove it completely up Kim Il Jung's bung.

I quit going to the movies when hollywood started giving all their money to obama and making him out to be a God. When hollywood makes the movie of obamas life I'm sure they'll have him play himself.
Then give him an Oscar. They love him that much!!!

I agree as well. The moment we acquiesce to terrorists they have won. Yes, it's a big risk for us. And perhaps POTUS' statement should have included information that would make us more confident in the safety of "going to the movies." But we have to show we are fearless and that we will not give in.

I'm going to the Hobbit on Saturday. I should still be alive after that.

Exactly my point. I think Sony was irresponsible by poking their finger in the hornet's nest to begin with and they should suffer the consequences of their decision, but we, as Americans, shouldn't be willing to give up our 1st Amendment rights so easily to terrorists. I also agree that Sony should just cut their losses and release it on DVD (in the interest of possibly saving lives) and (everyone should) count it as a lesson learned - you can't poke your finger in a hornet nest and not expect to get stung! I personally wasn't planning to see the movie and certainly WON'T see it just to make a point - we also shouldn't risk the lives of anyone by fanning the flames. The MSM should go silent on the issue and people should quietly go about their business of enjoying their rights.
