The actual unemployment figure is currently at 23%; I would call that serious and destroys your BS statement above. BTW, if you don't think serious inflation is here go buy groceries and gas, essentials that the government conveniently took out of the formula to figure inflation so as to not actually show the real numbers. Excluding disabled people and children from the working population, serious unemployment would be a case where too many people who are able and want to work cannot find employment within a reasonable time period.

Sometimes called "frictional unemployment", a certain level of unemployment occurs when people who would ordinarily work find themselves between jobs due to usual events: family problems, looking for a new job, going back to school, trying to start a business, etc. This level is somewhere under 4%. During WW II, it was under 1%.

Any level above frictional unemployment is serious unemployment.

The REAL unemployment rate which takes into account the issues Marvin mentioned is 11.5% which includes those the BLS classifies as " Marginally attached".
