There is a concern evident on OPP that the gains of the senate takeover by the repubs could be negated by McConnell being the new majority leader.

I believe these concerns are well founded and wonder if him being the upcoming leader is a done deal, set in stone.

Or could some other senator be installed there.

Its set in stone. I hope the Senate and House leaders realize they are in the position they are in due to conservatives and Obamas radicalism. No compromise. Stop this man and his policies now.

McConnell's raise to majority leader is not chiseled in stone, but you have to remember that there are a lot more progressive Republican Senators than conservative Senators in the chamber of congress. He had surpassed the "Peter Principle" when he was minority leader, but as we see in government the more inept you are the higher you go.

Technically you are correct McConnell could be unseated but it will not happen. Right again to many good ol boy Senators. The major difference between conservative and liberal voters is the conservatives will hold our leaders accountable.

Both the house and the senate made sure that they (Boehner and McConnel) would get those seats. There was dirty politics by the republican RINOs in that they refused financial help to the tea party republicans and instead offered help only to establishment type republicans. Both Boehner and McConnel need to be voted in but the back room deals that these two have done will insure their nomination as well as their election. I was hoping that we could rid ourselves of Karl Rove and Co. but with all of the under the table deals being done I am not sure that it is possible.
