Of course there was no budget cut, just less of an increase than the "progressives" wanted. That is the claim from either side and a new use of the English language, when a smaller increase than requested is called a cut.

Where does the doctor say Republicans held up funding?

Who, in the Senate, controls which bills will presented for a vote?

Harry Reid, of course.

I think you managed shoot yourself in the foot again.

Thanks, Snoopy. I just posted an article on Obama's indifference to Ebola coming to America.

Marvin your full of BS, I read in Time that the gov doesn't have a $100,000,000 or so to spend getting new products through the FDA process. Is it the lack of money or an FDA that is out of wack. If you want the new experimental Ebola one you can request it, but the average wait time for a approval is 21 days.

Sorry dude by that point all any of us can say is rest in peace.

And no pharm company will spend that on a desease that only effects a hand full of people every year.

Marv has it in his head that the road to prosperity is paved by government spending. If bombs and tanks don't do the job, the infrastructure will, if that doesn't work maybe experimental medicines.

Huffington Post is all for Democrats anyway, and is quite one sided in reporting the facts

Simply don't believe, get the real facts NIH is worthless and needs to be defunded and let our system work called Capitalism not Communism. Your head Imam obamination is responsible for this outbreak in America at least France and Britain were smart enough to stop flights from African Nations and we should have too.

Sir or ma'am, at the time you mention I was up to my a$$ dodging IED's and suicide bombers. I would of loved to been home with my family but duty called. You know Obama could of called them back into session when he wanted. He had a window to pass ANYTHING he wanted. But couldn't stay off the golf course. He's pure slime in my opinion. Thank you.

In the 2006 Congress, the filibuster cut spending and Bush had veto power over spending for NIH.
In the 2008 Congress, the stimulus gave a lot to NIH.
In the 2010 &2012 House, the NIH got shrunk so it could be drowned in a bathtub.

Isn't the development of new medicines what drug companies do?

The Republicans are to blame for ebola!

NIH does the research. The drug companies get the profit. The IRS tries to get the tax that the accountants hide.

Gee, I was sure that I read an article about TKM being released just 8 days before the outbreak of Ebola. Some may say that timing is everything, especially when a company is trying to make a buck.

So, I guess that research had not been slowed down too much. And, why is it that the some people feel that all discovers, drugs, food, military, and everything else the world needs has to come from the US? There are other countries -- we need not always shoulder the burden of making everything all right for this big world. Get a grip, fold up some of that ego before one day comes when there is nothing left for the US to give to anyone to include herself.

Just like the DOD has almost all the guns in the world, the NIH is where the research is done. Good old USA!
