The high art of doing nothing

As you may have noticed from the few political ads you've seen, very little has happened in the congress since the last elections. Well, pretty much nothing has happened in quite a few years. Oh, there have been a plethora of "pretend" things almost happening, but those were mostly for show. Our congress has raised doing nothing to a high art form.

It takes no courage to do - nothing. It takes no great thought to do - nothing. There is no risk to doing - nothing. The art of doing - nothing, requires great skill at talking a lot and saying - nothing. Making speeches for the CNN cameras, the record and no one else, takes little preparation. There is an art to blaming the "other side" for - nothing happening, which is convenient, because neither side is responsible for - nothing.

Always claiming that one knows what SHOULD be done, while doing - nothing, makes for great theater. Getting paid while doing - nothing, is a dream job. Going on repeated vacations to rest up from doing - nothing, is well deserved. Waiting for the "other side" to do - something, so you can criticize what they did and claim you'd have done better, is a good strategy, as long as you continue to do - nothing, so as to prevent the "other side" from doing the same to you.

Tackling the hard problems and making the hard decisions is not good politics, because you might not get it right the first time. It's far better to do - nothing and hope the problems solve themselves, or the "other side" screws up and tries to deal with them, so you can take the high road. So, if you want to pay for - nothing, turn to the congress. If you want to work your ass off and get - nothing in return, re-elect all the congress people every time, or elect new, carbon copies. If you expect - nothing, you'll be very happy with our congress. If you want our country to erode away to - nothing, don't change a damn thing.

Your not just describing Congress are you?? The entire Hill is filled with a bunch of do nothing, greedy, back stabbing, money hungry sell outs...What matters to them is what's in their banks from selling out the country, not the Country and its citizens..

With both sides stone-walling it in the finest Nixon tradition nothing can or will ever be accomplished, as you so state and as we so live.....But don't single out just Congress..What they put through in Bills sits on Reids' desk to be classified as bin 86, never to be seen again..None of them understand to effectuate actually accomplishing something "compromise" neither will like is necessary...Stonewalling for party sake has created the BS we're in now....No other blame is needed.....IT's a fact, jack~ ;-)

I once believed we elected these individuals to represent us, to put our best interest first. What a mess they have made. Is it any wonder the USA appears aimlessly adrift in uncertain seas.

Stupid post. One side can't compromise when the other side's agenda is "my way or the highway." As long as Obama occupies the WH, gridlock is good.

Good for you! I'm glad to see your bitterness has no bounds. It's good to see a representative of those who keep electing the idiots we wind up with.

You mean the other folk who do nothing? Ok, I believe you, but you'll have to excuse my not recognizing them, since they act exactly the same as all the other folk. ( Note I said act and not talk. It's not what they say, its what they do that counts - or in this case - don't do. )

With the Democrats holding the Senate and Presidency, gridlock is good.

You are right on the mark and well said except for two major events; Obamacare! It has been the second biggest con job ever perpetrated upon the citizens of the United States. The first was Obama. Now you have to admit those were quite an accomplishment by the Democrat Party within the past six years. Huck.

So you rate Odumbasscare in front of "climate change" (or whatever the "f" they're calling it this week)?
