Republican candidates moving to "the middle" on social and economic issues?

WaPO article states that republican candidates are abandoning convervative talking points and telling voters how they support birth-control, in-state tuition for "illegal aliens", support for portions of the ACA, and some form of amnesty for some illegals.

My, my, my, how the worm is turning.
So these guys are finally wising up, and getting smart, or they really, really want to win an election.

As I've said before, if we just wait long enough, the political platforms of dems and repubs will swap. If we look at those two parties from 80 years ago and just look at what they said and did, without knowing which party they were, we wouldn't get it right trying to guess.

It's the difference between firmly believing in a method of governing and the firm belief that whatever gets you into power - is the right thing to do.

one other thing, the real reason that these two islamic terrorists,eric holder and obo, want our guns is so that we can no longer defend ourselves against isis when they come to behead you and our children if we don't give in to their beliefs. it's an all out assault on our feedom as we know it. if and when they come for our guns, give it to them.....the buisness end of it! it's time to take back our country from these ruthless M.F.'s!

Conservatism has always been a matter of what exists and how can the parts of what exists that benefit conservatives be preserved. Regardless of whether anyone else thinks they need changing or being gotten rid of or why.

Progressivism has always been about what exists and how can the parts that don't benefit the progressives be changed or gotten rid of. Regardless of whether anyone else thinks they are worth keeping or why.

The policies pursued by both parties and both political tendencies are constantly shifting because society is constantly shifting.

If the progressives actually built the kind of anthill society they dream of they would immediately become conservatives. And the people who are now conservatives would become radical. Mind you, there's no shortage of people in the on the right and in the libertarian movement (which, contrary to what a lot of proggies believe, are not the same thing) who think that this has already pretty much happened.

Are you serious? Has premature hardening of the categories resulted in premature senility? I am going to give you credit for more deliberate thought than you displayed in this post. Try yoga. Breathe deep. Close your eyes and listen to some relaxing classical music. Eat GOOD chocolate and drink filtered water. Watch some informative PBS documentaries and avoid this site for several weeks. You might feel better.
