ISIS is doomed

We're told the Al Qaeda terrorist organization is now calling itself ISIS. In reality, ISIS split off from al Qaeda over what have been given as differences between leaders over doctrine and goals, but the real reason is most likely just a fight over power. The leadership of ISIS is younger and more aggressive, but all the claims that they’re also more violent are bogus. Those people are all equally vicious and violent. Right now, ISIS is getting headlines for mass murders of Shiites and other non-Sunnites, but al Qaeda got plenty of headlines of their own for the same heinous acts of beheadings, torture and slaughter.

The program of the West to exterminate al Qaeda’s leadership has been pretty successful, with the result that the survivors have gone into quiet hiding. Internal dissension over this ducking of heads caused the rise of aggressive younger leaders who’ve struck out on their own, as ISIS, and so far they’ve been very successful. They’ve gone farther and taken over much more territory than the al Qaeda leadership ever did.

Up to a point, Obama was willing to let them proceed with their plan to take over the Mid-East and eventually the whole planet, but his handlers in Saudi Arabia have instructed him to stifle their progress. Even though Obama is a Sunni like ISIS, al Qaeda and the Saudis, that doesn’t mean that they all have the same goals or even like each other, and the Saudi’s clearly see ISIS as a threat to their own religious/political dominance. The King of Saudi Arabia is, after all, the Keeper of Mecca and perhaps the single most important religious figure in Islam, and he expects the leaders of ISIS to defer to him. He also knows that this expectation won’t be met, that ISIS is an opponent, not an ally, in the constant battle among Muslims for religious ascendancy.

The Shias and the Sunnis will forever cut each other’s throats in the effort to be “the only true Islam”, and will never rest until the other is wiped out. The Shia’s number no more than 11% of all Muslims, but are the majority in Iraq and Iran, and Iran is currently the single most powerful Middle East nation. Iraq held that position until we wrecked the status quo and started the mess we have over there now. Up until then, these two predominantly Shia countries were at war with each other over differences not fathomable to me unless it was just the desire to conquer. The things Muslims do make sense only to Muslims and usually involve lots of murder and blood.

What’s going to happen to ISIS is the same thing that happened to al Qaeda, their leaders will be targeted and killed with airstrikes until the organization finally folds its tent as al Qaeda has done, and those remaining limit themselves to minor attacks just to maintain their positions of authority within the organization. For all practical purposes, ISIS will become just one more little terrorist outfit that had its day of fame.

Because this right here is the bottom line. The Saudis want the world to become a united Islamist state, but they want it done their way with them at the top, and the use of terrorism is not their way. Terrorism doesn’t work well on the West and they know it. They can cow any Muslim into bowing down in fear, but the West is different, we don’t bow down, we stand up and strike back, and that’s because we aren’t Muslims taught since birth to submit. This is why the Taliban, al Qaeda, ISIS and all the rest of the terrorist start-ups and fiery Islamist preachers will never succeed. They not only have the West to contend with, they have the Saudis as well.

100 years from now their oil will be gone and their great grand children in Europe and America will have long since blended into our melting pots. They will be left with nothing but their sand and once great dreams of world domination.

How do smart people, in the western world, deal with rattlesnake country? They keep out...just like the sign says.

ISIS, Al Queda, Nazis, Communists are all our enemies. None are or were doomed. Nothing is written before hand. If you are weak you lose. Whether you openly fight them like Bush did, like Roosevelt and Truman did, or you simply beat them with quiet strength like Reagan did, you cannot project weakness like Obama and Carter.

This ain't rocket science or brain surgery.

Your right, and Obama is swatting hornets nests with a newspaper. It's not very effective. My hunch is that they will strike the U..S. Precisely because Obama is a kufher in their eyes. Obama has been snubbed by Turkey, just as Bush was. When will the U.S. learn? Muslims hate.period.

Wotta pessimist. The Nazis were doomed, and they're gone. All that's left of that part of German history is some skinheads with swastica tattoos, most of whom are in prisons for life. You don't call that doomed?
Do you really think everything goes on forever? What about the Pharonic Dynasties of Egypt? Doomed. Rome? Doomed. The British Empire? Doomed and gone.

Nothing lasts. That's not rocket science or brain surgery either. ISIS is doomed. Bummer if you don't like the idea.

I do not think you get my point. It is easy to sit here in from of our keyboards with our fat guts 69 years after the fact and say the Nazis were doomed. They came with in a whisker of winning.

Our fathers and grandfathers fought them with no guarantee of winning. Many of them did not survive the war. If you throw in the Pacific War, the first 6 months of American involvement were just one disaster after another. Americans today who tired after a few years of the Iraq War which was not comparable, would have thrown in the towel back then.

I am well aware of the fortunes of history. Yea maybe if Hitler and Tojo had won, they would be gone now. That is beside the point. The point is America won 69 years of freedom. We will be gone one day, so what? Maybe some of us would like another 69 years of freedom for our children and grandchildren before we are swept away by history.

That ISIS is doomed in the far distant future is not relevant. We live in the present and the near future. An ISIS free near future is my choice. With a weak leader like President Obama, how can you say ISIS is doomed in the near term? For 6 years he has been all talk and no follow through.

Because Obama has nothing to do with the future of ISIS. Obama doesn't rule in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia does. Saudi Arabia is where Mecca is and the Saudi King is the Guardian of Mecca and that's all anyone needs to know. The Middle East is ruled by Islam, not by American military might. The Muslims can fight each other for power forever, but until they overthrow the Saudi King, none of that fighting means a damn thing.

The King wants ISIS dismantled. He tells whoever is president of the USA to defeat his enemy and we do it for him. By treaty. We have a treaty with the House of Saud that we will defend them against all enemies in exchange for a continued flow of oil, the treaty was agreed to and signed by FDR and has never been repealed. Obama also being a Sunni Muslim, he has no problem at all in doing as the King desires. ISIS is doomed. Flat out. There will be no other outcome. Don't go saying I'm wrong unless you can come up with proof, because I'm not wrong.

I showed you my cards, now let's see yours if you think your hand is better. The play's been called.

I, , , guess we are on the same side, sort of? We both want ISIS destroyed? Don't we? ISIS is run by crazy Islamic terrorists. They have beheaded Americans. They have killed man y of our friends who we abandoned to them. They are evil. We need to kill as many as we can and then destroy them as a group, though individually they will live on.

Whether the Saudis are on our side or not, ISIS is our enemy. We either destroy them or they will destroy us. I just do not believe Obama is up to the job. I do not believe ISIS destruction is inevitable. If Saudi Arabia orders Obama to destroy ISIS and he listens, it really doesn't bother me. He sure as hell won't listen to his generals. So I guess somebody besides Valerie Jarrett should order him to be a tough guy and kill America's enemies.

We're undoubtedly on the same side, just not on the same side of reason. Of course we both want ISIS destroyed. I'm just not focused exclusively on them.

Look. The Saudis ARE NOT on our side. They're strictly on their own side. Our treaty with them is so we can buy their oil and they get their asses covered so they can keep selling it. No other reason. The Saudis suck otherwise and are our enemies in all other aspects.

All these Muslim Extremist groups are run by Imams, Muslim priests. Once we've killed off enough of those priests, the group falls apart. Over and over. Terrorist organizations are personality cults, no matter how militarily organized they are. Like Hitler and the Nazis. If Hitler had died in the middle of that war, Germany would have crumbled. In any war, you take out enough of the generals and their army falls apart in confusion. No leaders, no leading. It's a simple fact that enabled us to beat the British in our fight for independence. It was the European way that the Generals were not targeted on either warring side, they just let the troops fight it out. We killed every British officer we could and that confounded them. That's not the only reason we won but it was a factor.

Think of Islam as being a many-headed snake. You can keep whacking heads off it, but as long as one head remains, the snake lives on. ISIS, al Qaeda, the Taliban, just snake heads. Islam itself is the name of the enemy, not ISIS or whatever, and as long as Islam exists there will be Islamic terrorists.

People are so easily sucked in. Give a name to any perceived threat, real or imagined, and people will focus on that name as being the embodiment of an enemy. Like "ISIS". When you see it as the goal of all Islam to rule the world, then you have it in clear focus. Don't be hypnotized by one snake head.

I suppose it is tactical what we disagree on. We have killed many of their leaders and new ones spring up. I agree we must continue that, but I think you have to kill the worker bees too. Under Bush we did win the counter insurgency war in Iraq when it seemed hopeless. Then Obama just threw it away, created a power vacuum which if ISIS or Al Queda did not fill, Iran would have.

The tactics that worked in Iraq the first time will work again against ISIS, except under Obama we can't do anything George W. Bush did because that would anger Obama's string pullers in Silicon Valley.

I am advocating strength, staying power, and resolve. America had it in WW2 and during the Cold War. We lost during Carter and we sure do not have it under Obama. Our enemies and our friends need to know that a red line in the sand is more than Obama's toe print.

I disagree that if Hitler had died in say 1943 Germany would have crumbled. From that point on Hitler was Germany's worst enemy. He made irrational decisions that shortened the war. There were plenty of other leaders who could have carried on. They may have sued for peace or not, but Germany would not have crumbled. The British had many plans in process to kill Hitler, then decided that an over medicated Adolf was better alive than dead.

Blacksheep; FYI even though Iraq was predominately Shia Saddam was Sunni therein the cause of conflict with Iran.

Thanks, yes, I know that. Not just Saddam but those in his government. It was a Sunni hierarchy ruled with an iron fist. It just makes no sense though, to try and conquer a Shiite nation with Shiite soldiers. Saddam had his hands full keeping control at home. I understand religious differences, they abound in Christianity. What I don't understand is why they're so willing to kill each other over them. I know what the Koran/Hadiths teach, but still.....

Hey, I do not understand either but have no problem with them killing each other and as long as they leave us out of it I'm for letting them go for it. However it does not seem to be ISIS's intent to allow us that privilege. So my plan would be to tell them exactly when we would be there in force to finish this thing and challenge them to get all recruits available they could so it would be a fair fight. Once they had assembled everyone they could then I would have one B-52 fly over and so long Caliphate. Who says we can't win this with only Air Power. Think they would get the message then? Can you tell I'm tired of this crap, what's the use of having power and not using it. Do we really need to wait until they have one and use it first before we use ours just to be politically correct. Our current Policy does not seem to be working so well so lets get on with it. Call Iran's leaders and tell them to stop enrichment immediately or we will turn them into a glass factory; Syria will see that and fall in line. Next we tell that little punk in North Korea to give up his reign of terror and the next time he fires a rocket we will level his country. Now, that leaves Putin; we sit down at the table and tell him that between the two of us we can destroy this place we call Earth and unless he changes his ways that is where he's heading now so lets live in peace or in the event he chooses otherwise and survives the holocaust he can be in charge of the charred Earth no one wants. What's it going to be?
Now the only problem with my plan is that you have to have a President that doesn't keep drawing Red lines in the sand so I don't have a clue what to do for the next two years. I guess just send troops into combat but don't call it combat and only give them one bullet and have Rules of Engagement where they can't use that bullet. Yeh, that going to work for sure.
