When the Civil Rights, era brought about the end of Jim Crow laws, whites lost all perspective and began to destroy their own unions and elect folk who eased the path to job exportation and wage stagnation all because they promised to reverse the tide of Black equality. From Nixon through Reagan and including GW Bush they elected Corporate toadys. Now they are looking at the rubble and blaming blacks Gays, and immigrants.

I essentially agree with you but I see it a bit differently , whites gradually accepted the civil rights gains , but also still believed in the primacy of white culture , what has caused them to have fits is the fact that a black man has occupied the pinnacle of white power, and that threatens the primacy issue

you have spent too much time reading the distorted ramblings of the left they take credit for what the right has done and blame the right for the bad things they have done

It seems to me that a couple of the progs here now don't know just who it was that pushed civil rights. they believe the prog propaganda about who it was. Did you notice that that one only saw three bad presidents during those years and all were Republicans. Oh well, I stopped voting Democrat in 1972 when they nominated the admitted socialist, George McGovern and I haven't seen them nominate one less left than old George since then. They ran from me and I stayed away from them.

,
Why do you constantly refer to Obama, who is half white, as Black? Could you not just as easily refer to him as white?

inyourface has a belief system that has only one basic tenet: Blacks can do no wrong, whites can do no right. What a shame that imbecile has no identifying color.

Actually, a biracial man has occupied the White House. I have frequently wondered if his Caucasian mother and grandparents were still living would that side of his genetic code be totally ignored as it currently is.

I can assure you he would happily identify as mixed race, or even white, if there was political capital to be obtained from doing so.

the majority of Americans see him as a black man , and that is ok , if you choose to see him as biracial or whatever fine

Two books, "What's the matter with Kansas" and "What's the matter with white prople ",both written by white people show the disconnect whites have with what is in their own best interests.

I haven't read those two books I am in the middle of reading three books at this time , I just finished Mario Cuomos -I came to believe- it gives a good perspective on liberalism, but as soon as I can I will get those two books

I was raised in the South. As I remember Africa American were far better off during the days of segregation then they are to day. In the West Virginia coal mining camp I was raised in the school and the church was segregated but housing was not. We lived side by side but did not associate with each other that much. The black miner all got drunk, played cards, fought and once in a while someone would get caught cheating and would get killed. The whites did the same in their gambling hangout. The coal was their if a black work hard he could make a good living everyone was paid by the ton. The same in Detroit black made good living in the automobile industry. In the south they pick cotton. It at least give them money to eat which was all white got or picking cotton. I remember black being a hell of a lot better off under segregation then they are now. By the way it was reported in the Chicago paper that the West Virginia coal fields made the old west look like a Sunday school. The old cliché was true in a West Virginia coalminer game also "A pair of sixes beats four aces"
