Do you understand this?

No we don't, because what you're saying is idiotic. "50-year old clones of Sotomayor", I don't think so. Right now the liberals are close to losing Ruth Bader Ginsburg who is probably going to die before Obama gets out of office, so even if he replaces her with a liberal the balance will be the same. As far as I know none of the other justices are close to death or have any plans to retire before 2016.

Each of the last four presidents have had to replace a justice once per term. Bush 41 had one, and Clinton, Bush 43 and Obama have had two each. Before that Reagan had three and Nixon/Ford had five. You are correct that Ginsberg is the oldest at 81, but Scalia and Kennedy are 78. If Democrats keep winning the presidency, and they shall by sheer demographics, one will need to be replaced soon enough. And that will tip the balance to the left for years to come.

[quote=Tgards79]...the House starts passing laws on meaningful immigration reform, protecting and extending women's rights, expanding student loan programs, etc. in other words, reaching out to Hispanics, women and young people. The math does not support any other take. And if you never win the Presidency, you will soon lose the Supreme Court and all those rulings you cherish will be overturned by Democratic-appointed 50-year olds that are clones of Sotomayor. Do you realize this? There is no workable coalition right now for the GOP to capture the White House. And that is in part because the far right controls the primaries. Do you get this?

It is obvious that the GOP base loves an ever shrinking small tent that is filled with aging, cranky, belligerent whites. They prefer not to share their tent with "uppity women" nor "uppity minorities" who do not wish to be token country club negroes and Hispanics.

Evolution and adaptation are scary concepts to them...They feel those words reek of communism and Marxism. It is "beneath their dignity".

All the Democratic strategists can say is "Suit yourselves".

Building a big tent...the kind that wins presidential elections is threatening to these folks because that would mean EVOLVING AND ADAPTING TO CHANGING DEMOGRAPHICS.

Exhibit A: Presidential election of 2008

Exhibit B: Presidential election of 2012

What do you think exhibit C from the 2016 election will look like?

That's ASSUMING the Democrats keep winning the presidency, which is a grossly rash assumption. Neither party has a history of winning the presidency over and over again. The Democrats did it from 1932-1952, but that was because FDR was elected four times, something which can't happen today. The Republicans had a major run after the Civil War, only losing the presidency twice between 1868 and 1912 and that included the highly contested election of 1876. Other than that, history has shown that the voters tend to get fed up with both parties before they've been in power very long, even when one candidate is exceptionally popular like Bill Clinton, who still wasn't popular enough for the Democrats to hold on to the White House in 2000. It's a pretty big stretch to claim, as a lot you liberals seem to love doing, that the Republicans will never win the presidency again. In the meantime let's see how well you Dems do in this upcoming election, shall we?

This is exactly the kind of stereotyping that a lot of voters are becoming sick of hearing and may well improve the chances for the Republicans, who are already on track to win the Senate as well as hold on to the House in the November election.

The liberals with their high and mighty socialist ideology are doing exactly what Khrushchev predicted, taking down the flag and all it ever stood for and surrendering freedom. I only have one question for you, who are you going to blame the next terrorist attack on our country on?

The voters who are sick of hearing these very accurate assessments are the very voters who dwell in that ever-shrinking small tent.

You are really clueless as to why the GOP will never again get the keys to the White House.

Can you spell W-H-I-G-S??? I knew you could...

The GOP, with its shrinking demographics, will take back the White House probably around the same time they take back California.......which is approximately around the time hell freezes over.

The GOP paid little attention to its demographic "issues" in Calif. Now the party is going extinct there. It's no accident that the Republicans hold ZERO statewide offices and haven't held a U.S. Senate seat for decades.

And I suppose the Republicans are going to get their butts whipped in this election too, right? Don't be stupid, Brian. They said the same thing in 1964 after Goldwater got trounced by Johnson, that the Republican Party was doomed forever and look what happened. They got the White House back in the very next election. As Yogi Berra said, "It ain't over till it's over."

Winning the Senate and keeping the majority in the house means nothing if you don't hold the Presidency. You do know that the President has veto power, that it takes 2/3 majority in both chambers to override a veto, and it takes 2/3 of the Senate to convict for impeachment.......so even if you win, you still lose. Disheartening, isn't it?

Protect and extend women's rights? WTF does that mean? Pay for any and everything they demand? Abort kids up to an hour after they're born! American women already "enjoy" more latitude than most of their European counterparts! If Americans weren't so insular and uninformed they'd know that.

Immigration Reform? WTF does that mean? Open the border and allow unrestricted immigration? Who do you think is already taking young people's jobs?

If Republicans have to be Democrats to win elections, then America has lost it's soul! I won't be part of that!

Here's a bit of news: Republicans already are Democrats! The base just hasn't quite figured it out yet.

this election has nothing to do with 2016. Bone up on your demographic trends, and weep. It's a different world than Reagan's time, my friend. But suit yourself, if you think your approach is working. Dems love it, me included.

These dinosaurs just refuse to accept the truth. The demographics have changed. "Leave it to Beaver America" is gone.

Most of us don't live in lily-white suburbs, where a Dad in a business suit, solves all problems graciously, within 30 minutes.

The conservatives would rather die than change and acknowledge that their imaginary world went bye-bye.

All the Democratic strategists can say is, "suit yourselves".
