Make up your mind. Is it a call to prayer or a call to arms: the two are diametrically opposed.
It is both. Do you think that God does not use arms when the day of judgement is upon us?
The bible shows us that God uses nations as instruments of his great power. Did the angels not defend the city of Jerusalem from the Babylonians?
Although the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell because they disobeyed God, before they sinned against God, God's holy angels defended the city with arms.
The commandment states "Thou Shalt not murder", but taking a man's life in defending one's self is justified.
We must pray for peace! We must pray that God will defend us! However part of that defense is within action.
Remember St. Paul said, "Faith without works is dead", therefore if we do not work for the defense of the faith, the faith will surely die.
But that does not mean, go out and find ISIS and kill them for sport or in hate. Do not attack unless we are attacked. Here within our borders we have not been attacked by ISIS. Therefore, it would be wise not to provoke them.
However, if they attack us, we must defend ourselves. If that defense results in their death, so be it. The Holy Father in Rome, you know him as the Pope, has stated, "We must fight, to stop this aggression". He emphasized the word stop, not smite, not slaughter, not destroy, but stop!
In this way that is what I have been saying all along yet the blood thirsty among us, seem to miss that point.
Now we stopped Japan from attacking us in World War II, by dropping the Atomic bomb on them. Now, I don't recommend using nuclear arms but we must only use the necessary force. This is why prayer is so important. If we pray, and protect ourselves through preparation, we will not be destroyed. However, if we do not protect ourselves, we will certainly be destroyed.
"God helps those who help themselves" is another Christian Principle. We cannot standby and do nothing. An attack on one Christian is an attack on all Christians. An attack on one American is an an attack on all Americans. An attack on one Israeli is an attack on all of Israel. An attack on one Jew is an attack on all Jews. An attack on one nation of NATO is an attack on all of NATO. Now realize this we must protect ourselves and recommend to our allies to protect themselves.
Hey this threat is real and we must take all the necessary actions needed to subdue this threat. However, we cannot go overboard and go out on a Crusade of extinction.
Look we can not get blood thirsty, we must wisely take action. War is a messy business. People lose their lives based upon a principle and a holy war or jihad if you will is the worst type of war. In this war, people will not be able to talk their way out of. take a lesson from the arguments of abortion and gay marriage, and we did not raise a finger up in that manner. Do you know how many centuries it took for the human person as a majority to restrain from using physical force to remain at the table and discuss the issue rather than killing someone over the issue?
Now every religion believes that they are the one true religion of God. However, this religion is deadset to enforce it. Other religions went through the same growing pains, but learned in time, which took centuries, to coexist.
Believe you me, the argument that Jews are Christ killers still goes on to this very day, however, in that argument the Christians are wrong because Christ forgave the Jews from the cross. So to attack the Jews because they were Christ killers is stupid.
How do you stop a holy war? More people have lost their lives in that type of war than any other war ever fought. That is why we must defend ourselves and protect ourselves. Until ISIS, is disheartened to fight, and the perpetrators are held in the court of the World for crimes against humanity, there will be no peace. It is ashame, but it is the truth.
Prayer defends the soul, and like wise the body and Prayer is the last defense of human life. After that the second to last defense is a weapon and knowledge on how to use that weapon. So between the weapon and Prayer, we can survive. However, I never like to see these situations get that far. Too bad we can't sit at the table of Peace and work out a solution. That time is well past. For they already attacked us, now they are attempting to invade us.
In the weeks to come, the American people will have to make a choice. This choice is going to determine our future and the future of the entire world. For if we fall, the light of the world, falls, for we are the hope of all nations.
If by our example, we prepare and bear arms and stand up strong against the terrorists, we will gain allies, in both the western and muslim worlds. Make no mistake of that, but if we let ISIS have their way with us, then the world is doomed.
This is the responsibility, that requires prayer. Even King David, King of Israel said,
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.."
Here the Prayer and the arms are recognized. God and the Sword are seen as comfort. For the fear of death, is combated by faith in God, and is reinforced by the comfort of arms.
We must show mercy if we win, for if we show mercy, mercy will be shown to us. But if we are attacked, we must defend. For how can we just lay down and do nothing.
For doesn't David's son Solomon say,
"To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:
A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;
A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;
A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.
Therefore if there is a time for everything under heaven and a purpose, then maybe the purpose here is to be prepared yet not battle, seek peace without war. However, the alternative is torture, pain, disease, and death.
Sorry Mr. Sanchez for the long post, but in order to get the full idea out, so that all may understand takes time and a lot of words. Welcome to the English language.
