I realize that high tariff will hurt for a little while. But after we retool and establish our industrial base, We will have less people on food stamps and government assistance. Otherwise the welfare roll and food stamps recipient will continue to skyrocket.

The United States imports between 40 percent and 60 percent of its consumer products from China. Wal Mart and Sears buy large amounts of Chinese consumer goods. In 2003, Wal-Mart spent $15 billion on Chinese products

Higher tariffs have been imposed on certain items exported to the US from China, but it seems they move production to another country and export to us from there...maybe we just need to stop going to Walmart to buy everything.

Walmart is just the scapegoat. Americans have created this mess not Walmart. From the day the liberals fell in love with the VW Bug in the 60s to the fascination with Perrier and Evian water. We are our own worst enemy. I recall during the fiscal crisis a lady in our local supermarket parking lot was handing out flyers and getting petitions signed to " Save GM". She had a huge sign on her car that said " SAVE GM" in Red White and Blue. Her car? A Subaru Forester.

well folks-do you think it is Democrats and Liberals who are exporting all those jobs and factories??--wise up America-those jobs will NEVER come back until wages get higher 'over there'-than they are here in the good Ol US of A!! There is no such thing as 'foreign competition'!--we have met the enemy and it is us!--American companies doing their 'manufacturing' over the big water-or actually 'predatory capitalists' (who are REPUBLICANS) and who do not care if the working class lives in a box under the bridge--if it hasn't fallen down --hint--they do not pay taxes and---no taxes- no infrastructure! Tarrifs (a TAX on imports) will save jobs--period!

Actually it is Democrats and Liberals. I can trace it back to the 60s when the liberals fell in love with the VW Bus and Beetle. Then the heavily Jewish Democrat garment industry began making textiles in the far east. . Do you know the most popular liberal car according to Carconnection.com? A SUBARU

So the CEO of Apple, StarBucks, HP, Hollywood (who does 80% of filming outside the US), Goldman Sachs, etc. are all Republicans? What drug are you taking? Have you actually checked the donor list to the Democrats from major corporations?

This is the biggest load of crap I've ever read in my life. Most the parts and components they use to manufacture your Ford, Chevy and Dodge are now made overseas. The reason the manufacturing base left America is due to CONSERVATIVE economic policies and deregulations.

What deregulation policy caused the loss of the US Auto industry? Can you name it? Was it the CAFE standards which enacted fuel economy standards that US Companies could not reach but were perfect for Toyota ? Maybe it was the emissions standards which favored small engine vehicles? Who decided to give the Japanese such a huge advantage over our industry?
