We ask the question “How”
And we ask the question “Why”.

We look to the Heavens for an answer,
But the stars wink merrily back,
Amused that these pitiful creatures below
Would seek to share in the Cosmic Mystery
That is theirs alone to know.

Man the Wise...self styled...
But unordained.
Man the Bold...Man the Fool...
It’s all the same.
An insignificant species of fragile mortality
Clinging tenuously to a spinning sphere of rock and mud

Yet of all those mired in the muck.
He alone dares raise up his eyes
And shout his plaintive questions to the Wind.
“Who are You...Where are You?”

What folly...what comedy.

But recently descended from the trees,
Yesterday learning to walk with his face uplifted to the sun,
This morning the recipient of Prometheus’ gift
This afternoon seeking to understand the nature of Absolute Being.

His half formed mind taking upon itself the right to affirm or deny.
Deny? Look to the Heavens at night. Count the stars, poor fool...
And tell me you deny!

And yet, because the Infinite is infinitely kind, the answers are there.
They have always been there; they will always be there.
But first we must walk toward the Light That Never Fails.

I like your poem. However, mankind is the only species mother earth would not miss if all people were to vanish. Everything about the Earth would continue fine without us. Natural balances would even return.
We are not needed in Mother Nature.
We are the slobs of creation making gross messes each and every year. We are the disrupters of all natures balances. We rip and tear the earth for her minerals and stuff.
We are actually guests in the Earth, and Im sure Earth is glad each our time is limited.

God creates these poems, Alicia. I just type them out for Him.

I think I said something like that, but perhaps not as vehemently!

OK. Then you must admit that EVERYTHING that is created in the science or arts first came fron god. We, with our brilliant minds then, are not above any other creature for, like the others, we accomplish nothing. That is with the exception of destroying mother Earth through our care-lessness, greed and production of trash.

I completely agree with your first sentence, Alicia. After that you lost me. Let's end this here. It was only a poem!

Alisha, I respect your point of view, but one thing I'd like for you to do. In order to challenge someone for his/her belief in God, one must read the Bible in its entirety and with and open mind. So my challenge to you is to read the Bible from the beginning. Genesis will bring to light why we (humans) are here and the rest of the bible will explain why the earth is where it is today. I hope and pray you will see what we see and maybe, just maybe you'll understand that human beings are and always will be more than just equal creatures on this planet. Thanks for understanding. God Bless!

Alisha Have you ever read the WORD OF GOD? The BIBLE? Now having challenged you, do it with an open mind. You know no pre-minded input. Let that God given thinking brain be challenged.

I'm glad you're hoping and praying. Keep it up.  ;)

PS.: Do you have a problem with reading or are you only hooked up to sound. My name is A L I C I A! It is pronounced a-lee-cee-ah - not a-lee-sha. Someone else had this problem but I thought that was already handled. :D

Margeree, I've had enough people attempting my conversion. I HAVE read the bible and I used to be polite on this subject. All I can say at this point is "shove it!"

Please read the previous statement I posted regarding my name. Or are you also on sound only? My name has not changed since 5 minutes ago.
