How about this,
If I promise to read the Huffington Post, will you promise to watch FOX news ? (If you watched both you might recognize the truth.)

For a story about a poll that shows only 13% of Americans want the children in this recent flood of illegals to be allowed to stay in America, The Huffington Post wrote this headline: "Most Americans Believe Migrant Children Should Be Allowed To Remain In U.S., Poll Shows."

Obviously, HuffPo didn't like the results of the poll, but rather than simply ignore it, the left-wing outlet chose instead to lie about it: [emphasis added]

The poll, conducted on July 31-Aug. 5, found that 51 percent of Americans believe the unaccompanied children being detained at the U.S.-Mexico border should be allowed to remain in the country for some length of time.

That included 38 percent who thought the unaccompanied youngsters should be sheltered and cared for until it was deemed safe for them to return home. Thirteen percent said the children should be allowed to stay in the United States, while 32 percent said the children should be immediately deported.

The headline is not spin or left-wing opinion or partisanship on the part of the Huffington Post, it is a bald-faced, straight out, indefensible lie.

The left and the media are losing the border debate in the exact same way they lost the most recent gun control debate. The left starts out with a campaign of emotional blackmail, conservative media then rushes in with facts and original reporting; and suddenly the left and the media are sputtering with half-truth and full-blown lies as the tide of public opinion turns against them.

Only 13% of those polled believe these illegal children should be allowed to remain in the US.

Still, a desperately dishonest HuffPo writes, "Most Americans Believe Migrant Children Should Be Allowed To Remain In U.S., Poll Shows."

You overlook the fact that, unlike all presidents before Reagan, he was willing and eager to confront the USSR on the battlefield of ideas. He rejected detente as being falsely based on moral equivalence. He intuitively knew there wasn't a moral equivalence between the centrally planned tyrannical government of the USSR and the freedom based government in the US. And only president Reagan, unlike any of his predecessors, was willing to confront them by capitalizing on our strengths, knowing that they couldn't compete. As Thatcher put it, Reagan put freedom on the offensive, where it belongs.
People who dismiss Reagan's accomplishments as inevitable anyway, forget the immense opposition he faced with his military buildup. Tens of thousands of people demonstrated in cities throughout the nation predicting a nuclear winter if his policies were followed. He held the course and even added Star Wars to the mix. With that, the USSR realized that for all their military might they couldn't compete with a free people they threw in the towel.
As a rebellious youth, I hated Reagan but have come to love him and what he stood for after I grew up. I only wish we had a leader of his caliber today. His policies were exactly what our country needed then and so desperately need today.

What has happened to our Country is the erosion of those things sacred to the Constitution..

While he isn't the complete cause of the erosion of Jobs, freedom and liberty he sure as hell has done nothing to move towards a country of FREEDOM and LIBERTY..Yet, everything to make We, the People, dependent puppets of criminally insane Hill that knows not what they do..
And while on the subject what has also happened is the people of this country, choosing hand outs, just as greedy, over Country...We get what we allow and we have "allowed" far too much!!
Time to vote them all out, period..

I moved out of the US in 1975 and so glad I did. Western Europe is a much saner place. I lived there for five years. I have been living in Japan now for almost 30 years and couldn't be happier. It's not perfect, but people care about each other here and help each other out. Life is much nicer here than in the US.

Reagan in his Time for Choosing speech advocating barry Goldwater as president said that this was the last best hope for man on earth. His words have again proven prophetic. Once the US is no longer a beacon of freedom for freedom loving people everywhere, and not considered exceptional, dark forces fill the vacuum. Witness the middle east in flames because Obama abdicated the leadership role of the US. We're already well into the final generation, thanks in large part to Obama's sympathy for the religion of the devil. As ancient Israel did, and as we have also now done, we have turned our back on the one true God who placed a hedge of protection around us. That hedge has been breached and will continue to be breached until we realize that only by turning back to God can we be protected. Read the book the Harbinger.

Specifically how? Lowering interest rates from Carters prime rate of 21% to 8% so businesses could invest and the middle class could buy homes? Lowering unemployment? How about reducing inflation from 11% to 3%

To a socialist progressive these are all bad things. They want to raise taxes higher and spend more for more social welfare so that the government will take care of them from cradle to grave.

I read the article twice. It's an op ed. Not that I'm criticizing that, op eds are good; just pointing out it's not a 'factual' so much as historical point-of-view narrative.

The writer is quite clever actually; inciting and redirecting people so inclined to heightened levels of hatred for Reagan. Refocusing our plight, Obamas struggles on a GOP leader other than W. Quite clever really...I have to admire the communist mind for that.

Even Obama has backed off Bush because the blame Bush strategy has worn thin with his media and partisan groupies. Now Reagan, theres fresh meat! This way Slick Willy, Barack and even W can be absolved of responsibility and we can still blame Republicans for all our misery. In the meantime Obama can continue to claim his respect for Reagan...insulating him from the blame strategy.

In the end what really is your purpose for posting this? To blame. We all know these stories from 40 and 50 years ago. The reality is the problems are today. They belong to the guy in the office today. He promised to deal with these issues today.

Blame doesn't solve problems, it perpetuates them. While working on blame nobody is working on solutions; perhaps why we are really in the mess we are in.
