There was a place down at Morton that processed horses for food. It was all shipped to Europe, I believe.
I once bought a horse in the back ally at the sale barn because he only brought $900.00 on the bidding.
The lady said she could take him there, and get a $1.00 a pound.
We bought him for $1100.00 so he wouldn't have to go to the killer market.
He weighed out at a tad over 1200 when we left with him.
Long story, but we had him a year, or so, and a cowboy from Wellington gave me $2000.
00 for him.
He wasn't dangerous, and worked well with us for what we were doing at the time.
He was actually the reason for the first HEATED argument for me with the amazing Mrs. Bunker.🤣🤣

......city folks shouldn't comment on rural matters......knew a fella who did the same thang......dog kills chickens....owner even tries to wire dead one around the neck of dog to teach a lesson......dog keeps killing chickens then moves to the neighbors chickens.....if you don't nip it in the bud you get severely misbehaved animal.....nobody in town barely commented except maybe to snicker a little......???
