Yes, it could. A lawsuit waiting to happen, giving away an untrainable physically adult dog. with it's history, to a family. I would not risk it in today's world/
I guess one option would be to a certified dog trainer who was willing to sign a legal waiver., though.

Rather than taking it to auction, and pawning off that threat to someone else, they took care of it. And, not a shot fired. It was not pleasant to see, but, it was what it was.
And, it was approved by the ranch manager.

Under pressure from animal rights groups in Ky. when i went to school there, they passed a law not allowing horses to be sold for rendering. People were taking them out into the forests and turning them loose to starve. Worst way to go.
