House Democratic leaders said Tuesday the party’s members would vote to save House Speaker Mike Johnson from an ouster, effectively killing repeated threats from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green, R-Ga., to begin the process for removing Johnson.

House Democratic leadership announced on Tuesday that if a motion to vacate Speaker Mike Johnson is brought to the House floor for a vote, they would vote to table the effort -- effectively saving the speaker from ouster.

Johnson (R-La.) said in a press conference afterward that he was caught off guard by the announcement and had not discussed the move with Jeffries or made any side deals on future legislation. “I’ve not requested assistance from anyone,” he said. “There’s no deals at all.”
MY COMMENT: When you have the opposition party coming to the aid of your House Speaker in order to keep him in power, you know your party is in deep, deep, trouble!
