The big question is how the History books, in maybe 30 years, written with the perspective we do not have now will show where we made the mistakes that threw us in the black hole where we are today.

The only thing I can tell you, Ve'Hoe is that I am older than you and you will need to keep on paying for those errors much longer than I.

I also can tell you that the anger I see in this posts is very dangerous. Each one has its own personal opinion and is blind to anything and anybody that contradicts that personal opinion.

Only one question Ve'Hoe, did you visit Iraq and Iran in the '60s and 70's? If you had you would cringe with pain comparing them to today?

Did we indict any of the contractors or overlook the unfinished work and kept on moving them from place to place?

Did we indict Blackwater for the atrocities that they committed in the name of the American people or did we move them back and gave them jobs in our land?

Everything is put under the rug but we'll get to a point that the rug forms a mound and we will trip on it.

I hopefully will not be here to watch it.

I looked at the blacksphere source. Notice the word "may". This means that this is nothing more than speculation and because this is a highly biased source it could be just as easy to speculate that it's baloney.

Even if some old stockpiles of gas canisters were found. Were they still viable ? There is a shelf life to that kind of stuff, and where were the means of delivering them I heard no mention of that

The next source down had a whole lot of "could"s in it. This is how this biased stuff is written on order to incite insurrection against the government. I did find the articles to be interesting but they don't prove anything.

My comment in regard to corn pone was directed at all Southerners. If you recall the photo, both races were represented. I'm sure white people in the South also eat pone. The prime comment was regarding how very few had joined in this grand production and their disorganized presentation. I'm used to seeing more people than that at a bus stop. Similar to the Spring gathering in Washington.

No,,,, I attack racists,,,,, and so do the moderators,,,, that is why your comments were removed... because as a liberal dem,,,and phony moral person,,, you reveal the contempt and hatred beneath your veil of feigned compassion,,,, but then I said that the first time I met you,,,

Admit it,,, you are a racist,,, everyone already knows it aleecha,,,, and you couldn't suppress your need to defile blacks, it is in your democrat blood,,you cannot hide the dripping condescencion and arrogant anger in your words, and it is strange that you never said anything racist about other tea party gatherings,, just the one with blacks in it,,, and since that was the topic at hand, it was not a mistake,,,

Now that we have established your racist tendencies and leanings, the lies of your morality, and phony compassion for the downtrodden, we will begin to work on your leeching, lying, and using of the women at the church.... what evil intent is behind that????? What is really in your heart where they are concerned???? You don't "like them" you use them, and have said how stupid you think "those people are for their beliefs",,,,, that is the same thing you alluded to towards the other races,,, it is just going to take time, and the real aleecha will emerge again,, because racism and hatred is a constitutional malfunction, a character flaw... probably why you are never really close to anyone,,, if they get to know what an ugly person you are deep down,,, then you can no longer hide it.

There was a time when a definition of marriage was pretty simple - man and woman. Perhaps you can write a new definition, but to my knowledge there were no restrictions on anyone from marrying one under that definition - with the exception of age of consent and relationship.

By the way, you might want to check that idea that Republicans were the only ones - DOMA was widely supported by Democrats - signed by a guy named Clinton - and as recent as the 2008 Presidential campaigns - both major Democratic candidates opposed what you call equal rights. Suspect your sources don't bother to either inform or remind you of that simple fact.

Same sex marriage is a relative new concept in America. However, Norway has had de facto same sex marriage since the early90s, so they have had more experience with it. Anthropologist Stanley Kurts in"The Eng of Marriage in Scandinavia" writes that when we look at Norway we see a place where marriage itself has almost totally disappeared. Marriage and childbearing are no longer connected, and two people of the opposite sex raising children in a committed relation are no longer deemed necessary. On the whole, only 37 percent of people from countries with same sex marriage think they should marry if they want to have children, while sixty percent of people without same sex marriage think so. (source The Future of Marriage by David Blankenship.
It was never the intention of activists for same sex marriage to have marriage be common in same sex relationships. Professor Judith Stacy of USC stated "I object to the profoundly discriminatory and antidemocratic character that the policies (marriage) promotes (Judith Stacey "Letters" The Nation October 1, 2001. Her disdain for marriage is so great that she actually applauds rising divorce rates. Despite this Stacey is one of the staunchest supporters of same sex marriage. In fact most people who professionally dislike marriage support same-sex marriage (The Future of Marriage) Michelangelo Signorile a prominent "Gay Rights" activist says "The most subversive action lesbian and gay men can undertake is to transform the notion of family entirely." (Signorile "Bridal Wave OUT December 1994) In countries where same-sex marriage is legal there is a rush for marriage at the beginning, but the end stage numbers indicate 1 to 4 % of homosexuals actually marry. (Blankenhorn "The future of Marriage") As far back as activists book "After the Ball" the concept was to change the culture fully , reinvent society, Some of the writings by the authors indicate that, in addition to making all sexual behaviors "normal", their backgrounds as "progressives" were for a collectivist state controlled society.

Very insightful post. Looks like you've done your homework. I struggle with this issue. On the one hand I support equal rights for all. But I always take issue when a minority is able to force its way of thinking on the majority.

Although there are many examples throughout history of marriage anomalies (multiple wives, etc.) it can easily be argued that there exists a religious and/or cultural understanding of what marriage means. In more recent times, there is another meaning and that is a legal definition. If a couple is legally married their tax status is changed and they have other rights - bestowed by the state - not by God or society.

I am not a religious person but, even I feel a bit threatened when someone is able to alter the meaning of traditions that make sense to me against my will. In my world, marriage is a cultural and/or religious event that recognizes a newly formed family unit and should be between a man and a woman. I think that word "marriage" has meaning for most people, no matter what the state says. Having said that, I have no problem with civil unions whereby the state bestows all the same legal rights as a married man and woman would enjoy. I just have a problem with same sex couples unwillingness to understand or accept the beliefs and traditions of the rest of the population.

When you give up on your hate,,, and racism, the work will be done,, but you wont admit to your hatred, therefore you are in denial or being outright deceptive,,,,so racisim and hate is ok as long as it is on "your side????"

Wow,,,, Im glad america is finding about the left wing nutcases, racists, and haters... and of course fighting back!!!

Despite your bad feelings about being the 'target of scrutiny' you must in your intellect know that what you said was an incident of racism, and the feelings you have are appropriate shame and guilt... hiding it, just makes you a progressive, a liar, and a hater..... the truth shall set you free....

Nickolai, I don<t read your comments very often. I agree with most of what you wrote and I love that you use original source material for your arguments. But, you are completely wrong about the Civil war. The original source documents before the war from the southern government talk about slavery as the cause for the war. The only "state's rights" talked about was the right to own slaves. You can check this yourself. The documents that I am referring to are the succession papers from every southern state that was given to the U.S. House as the reasons for succession. These documents were written by southern leaders prior to the war. Try checking out South Carolina's document, since they were the first to succeed.
