I give you a link to an article from the Journal of the American Medical Association and you respond with pictures from an... Article? ...in a website for FRWNs.
And I'm the crazy person? 🙄

"The CDC and FDA jointly established the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System, or VAERS, in 1990 as a way for people to report post-vaccination health issues. These could include allergic reactions, intestinal conditions, blood clots, or other problems that may or may not be related to a vaccine. While VAERS cannot determine whether an adverse event was caused by a vaccination, patterns in reporting may suggest a need for further evaluation to assess potential safety concerns.

Since the emergence of COVID-19 vaccines, however, the database has garnered more dubious notoriety. Anti-vaccination fringe groups have attempted to spin false stories using VAERS data, adding to misinformation about the safety of COVID-19 vaccinations."

"The VAERS database contains information on UNVERIFIED [emph. added] reports of adverse events (illnesses, health problems and/or symptoms) following immunization with US-licensed vaccines. Reports are accepted from anyone and can be submitted electronically at www.vaers.hhs.gov."

Smart people know to avoid fallacies.

One of them is known as the fallacy of post hoc ergo propter hoc.

It’s Latin for “after this, therefore because of this.”

The classic example concerns the rooster and the sunrise.

Every morning before the sun comes up, the rooster does his crazy crowing routine, waking up everyone around. Shortly after, the light begins to appear on the horizon.

If you knew nothing else, and you watched this happen over and over, you might conclude that the rooster is causing the sun to rise.

Of course, this is testable. You could kill the rooster and see what happens. The sun still comes up. But wait just a moment. Just the fact that this one rooster is dead doesn’t mean that all roosters are gone. Some rooster somewhere is crowing and causing the sun to rise. So your little experiment doesn’t disprove the theory.

What a conundrum, right?

If someone is convinced that a bird is controlling the sun, there is probably no way to convince him otherwise.

We can laugh at this example. How can someone be so dumb? Actually, this basic fallacy affects all science in all times, all places, and all subjects.

MY COMMENT: Examples: 1) Look, California’s cases are down and California bans gatherings, therefore coercive measures are controlling virus spread! 2) Countless famous people took to social media to announce they had COVID-19 but it was a mild case thanks to the vaccine, or 3) I took the vaccine and got weak, tired, and a bad headache, so I know the vaccine was working!

Easy enough to test your rooster hypothesis. Find a spot in either the Atlantic or the Pacific were the ocean goes from pole to pole. Since there is no land along the band (terminator?) where the sun should rise, plus or minus a 100 miles or so, if the sun does rise then roosters had nothing to do with it since none were present in any location on earth that was within a few minutes of sunrise. Now if the sun doesn't rise,

You say, "Anti-vaccination fringe groups have attempted to spin false stories using VAERS data, adding to misinformation about the safety of COVID-19 vaccinations", and "Reports are accepted from anyone". While that is technically true, it ignores the "common sense" reality of the situation, as well as real world evidence.

First, time is precious to doctors, nurses, and hospital officials. If it takes at least 1/2 hour for them to complete a VAERS form, it would take a lay person a lot longer. You have to be SERIOUSLY motivated to go through the time and effort to complete the form.

Second, a review of the VERS report show at least 2/3 were completed by health service employees.

Third, as of May 25, 2022 "The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Friday, May 20, released new data showing a total of 1,268,008 reports of adverse events linked to the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines.

The reports were submitted between December 14, 2020 and May 13, 2022 to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), the primary government-funded system for reporting adverse vaccine reactions in America."

Fourth, and finally, the top 8 states with deaths from the Covid-19 vaccine were all red states shown on the map. California, arguably the most Blue State, had the least amount of Covid1- Vax deaths. This covid-19 batch information is available for anyone to verify for themself!

Your first paragraph above isn't quoting me. It uses the quotes FROM one of the gov't agencies your "articles" cited.

First, 1,268,008 "adverse event" reports doesn't mean all those reports were about death.

Second, regarding the time and effort it takes to submit a report:
I was one of those people who found the VAERS website after my SECOND (of the first series of 2) Moderna vac. I did it because at the time, what was being said was that people might have a "mild fever" and "slight" body aches. I was flat on my back for an entire day, felt as bad as if I had the flu. I knew it was my body doing what it was supposed to but I was concerned that unless people knew there was a chance for a severe reaction, they wouldn't understand and never get fully immunized and the country would never hit that 90% mark. Which is exactly what happened. 🥺
But it helped. Did you know that the 3rd dose of Moderna was lowered? I'm not a doctor but I know reporting by me and people like me helped make that difference. Even though we never quite got to the point of stopping the virus from mutating here, a lot fewer people died than would have if no one was vaccinated.

Third, re 2/3 of VAERS reports coming from doctors and nurses, in my very Red county there were many nurses who were in your far-red fringe camp, convinced that any 'jab' was bad and campaigned against being "forced" to get it as a condition if employment. Since slightly more than half the states are red, that stat doesn't surprise me at all.

But you're going to believe what you want to believe regardless of the facts. If I've learned nothing else on OPP, I've learned that is true of many members here.

It's unfortunate because Red states and counties during the second half of 2020 and through the first half of 2022 had more COVID deaths per thousand because...
a) ...more red state residents refused to "get the jab" or never went beyond the first after it became a red "thing" not to.
b)...refused to wear a mask to protect themselves OR THOSE AROUND THEM (would true Christians really do that?), because THAT was also a "red thing" to do.

The articles and studies on the JAMA and VAERS sites make it quite clear that barring a very few extreme incidents the vaccines are safe for almost everyone. But because you all have done an excellent job of convincing people otherwise, the ramifications will continue long into the future: not only in the deaths of today, but in the people who never got even one "jab" but continue to have the side effects of having the COVID virus.

Well, NotMAGA, I can see that you, as well as I, are quite set in our various opinions. That's fine. Reasonable people can disagree on a number of subjects. If taking the vaccine makes you feel better, all the more power to you. I, on the other hand, prefer to rely on eating healthy, getting plenty of sunlight, outdoor exercise, rest, and trying to minimize my stress level, in an effort to strengthen my immune system. To each his own!
