Let's hear a dozen or so...big mouth!
The worst one is The BIG Lie that the election was "rigged" and the presidency "stolen" from him. According to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency — an agency that Trump himself created — the 2020 election was “the most secure in American history.” yet even after numerous recounts and court cases - and the disastrous Jan. 6...whatever you want to call it ...he still repeats this one, and has managed to convince his base that it's true.
The Georgia SEC State never said Trump says nothing wrong in the phone call where Trump asked him to just "find" enough votes for him to win the state.
“I wasn't a fan of Iraq. I didn't want to go into Iraq.” (he was for it before he was against it)
It poured on inauguration day 2017 (he says the sun came out - I'm actually surprised he didn't claim there was a rainbow... and unicorns).
"We had the biggest audience in the history of inaugural speeches" The size of the crowd was smaller than many previous inaugurations and MUCH smaller than Obama's, as historical photos show.
Kellyanne Conway coined the phrase “alternative facts” in order to back the narrative -because once he lies, no one can make him retract it. His fans could now choose whose “facts” to accept.
"It is a disgrace that my full Cabinet is still not in place, the longest such delay in the history of our country. Obstruction by Democrats!" In actuality, he never actually expected to win and took his time choosing Cabinet members.
On Brexit he said:
“I happened to be in Scotland, at Turnberry, cutting a ribbon, when Brexit happened, and we had a vast amount of press there and I said – this was the day before, you probably remember - 'Brexit is going to happen' and I was scorned in the press for making that prediction, I was scorned.
“Lo and behold the following day it happened and the odds weren’t looking good for me when I made that statement because as you remember everyone thought it wasn’t going to happen.”
LIE. In reality, Trump arrived in Scotland the day after the EU referendum, June 24, 2016, when the result was already clear.
He said "the head of the Boy Scouts" had called him to say that his weirdly political address to the Scouts' National Jamboree was "the greatest speech that was ever made to them." Didn't happen.
The spread of COVID in the US was "totally under control" and it would be "all gone by Easter" - then "by summer"... Hundreds of thousands more died after both of those. And this was three lies but we will count it as one because it was all about COVID and there are plenty more.
"The NSA and FBI tell Congress that Russia did not influence electoral process." (Tweeted)
Yeah, no. That's not what they said. Hours before, then-FBI Director James Comey had testified that the FBI came to believe that Russia was using “active measures” to hurt the Clinton campaign and help the Trump campaign.
“We got 306 because people came out and voted like they’ve never seen before so that’s the way it goes. I guess it was the biggest Electoral College win since Ronald Reagan.”
Not even close. George H. W. Bush won with 426 electoral votes in 1988. Bill Clinton won 370 votes in 1992 and 379 in 1996, and Barack Obama won with 365 votes in 2008.
And speaking if Obama - Trump. On JAN. 25 -
“So, look, when President Obama was (in Chicago) two weeks ago making a speech, very nice speech. Two people were shot and killed during his speech. You can't have that.” (There were no gun homicide victims in Chicago that day.)
Finally, one that illustrates his willingnes to cover his own butt using the full might of every tool at his disposal was "Sharpie gate" - remember that one?
In 2019 during Hurricane Dorian he tweeted that Alabama was at greater risk than initially forecast. The federal weather office in Birmingham then tweeted that, actually, Alabama would be unaffected by the storm.
He could have done a simple retraction but that would have made him wr..wr...wro..
Anyway, it's so impossible for him to admit a mistake that he instead had to *prove* his incorrect tweet was actually correct. He eventually came out showing a hurricane map crudely altered with a Sharpie to show Dorian going where it would not.
It would have been somewhat amusing but White House officials then actually tried to pressure federal weather experts into saying Trump was right and they were wrong! This saga proved that he had a whole administration willing to fight for him, even when he told outrageous lies.
And if you don't think this kind of thing would be a regular feature of a 2nd trump presidency... You've got about a thousand more thinks coming.
Actually, I may have lied - albeit inadvertantly.
Trump's biggest lie may have been when he stood on a stage and said "I can promise you this - I will always tell you the truth."
