Uh….. I thought this was a place to share ideas about politics. However.. the amount of discussion about personal religious beliefs is large. What about the site dividing out religious discussions and then a separate section for politics. It is offensive to be overwhelmed with others personal beliefs while thinking you are talking politics, law , strategy, history and ideas. I would also not mind discussing religious stuff but just not when we are attempting to sort out our public life. A huge number of people are scared by Gods Army and all those mega MAGA churches and the hatred and hypocrisy coming from them. It is scary. It is also infuriating to have people jam their religious views down other peoples throats. I do not want white Christian nationalists taking over the country. I’m scared of them and they seem to have blown off Jesus and replaced him with a Christian warrior cult. We've done this Christian Army before and it has t worked out so well. Can One political Plaza consider separating the two topics?

There is a section specifically for such discussions; Faith, Religion, Spirituality; however, people ignore it to obtain more exposure and create discord.

Wait a minute. Are you saying I’m a bigot? You say this because I asked for a separation in topics? O K keep em together, but it does have a dumbing down effect on the conversation.

You realize that by saying it has a dumbing down effect on the conversation that you’re showing bigotry?

I only post on Main including religious subjects not to create discord, I create them there for more exposure because at this late stage, the message MUST get out.

Rose, there you are. We usually agree on things. I think I feel that way because the church is failing and it has picked up speed. Young people that I know who have quit church have all said the politics took over from God and they are finding God outside of the church. I suppose that’s good, but I wish we were in 1999 instead and churches were at least half full.

I agree that churches are in disarray. As Smedley pointed out in another thread they’re often more like social clubs than a place of worship.

We need more pastors who don’t water down the gospel to get new members. At the end of the day though its up to each individual to work on their hearts.

I may fall in that young people. It is not church but denominations we are leaving. We are finding small community based churches. In some instances, we’re conducting home churches. A small group gathers in a home for Bible study with discussion on using it in our lives.

Thanks for that. I was hoping that is true.

Don’t you remember the revival that spread from college to college just last year?

Wouldn't you want new members that don't understand the Bible to actually learn and keep coming back because it was explained in simple terms that they would understand and want to know more? ( sorry about the long sentence )

You have to remember that most haven't been raised with the Bible and it IS a pretty confusing and a tough read if you're starting out and not raised with it.

They don't want someone preaching to them about something they don't understand. I also know that alot of Christians need to have somethings explained simply again. That's one thing I hate on here. People using the Bible or verses as weapons.

I am perpetually confused by these modern day Christians with their mega country club churches and their,” wealth theology”. What a joke and we wonder why people are fleeing. What happened to just settling down with Matt:35. It has always bothered me that that gang of old men in the council of Niceae, 325 AD tossed 27 books of the Bible and left us with a profoundly sexist, paternalistic, cruel set of writings. What a surprise. Just great, not at all what we needed. I mean they were humans just like us. How did they expect we were going to see it. So much of the Bible is pugilistic and judgemental. That was not Jesus Christ, no way, not any way at all.

There are some online that make it easy. A pastor by the name of J Vernon McGee has a series called ‘Through the Bible’. He died in 1988 but its still played on the radio and you can listen to it here -

You’re right about some people weaponizing scripture.

I imagine your correct. They could always Google it. I was just thinking it would encourage them to go instead of staying home. I know my preference for me. I was just thinking about getting the younger generation in there.

ANOTHER good one I used to listen to that just happened to be on during my 70-mile drive home from bible study a few years ago.
