Jonathan Cahn on America: Historic Parallels

Are there are any historic parallels between Israel and the United States?

To answer that question, were were blessed to have on our program Christ in Prophecy Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn. Rabbi Cahn is the spiritual leader of the Beth Israel Worship Center in Wayne, New Jersey and best-selling author of the book The Harbinger and a new book titled The Mystery of the Shemitah. Both books have been best sellers and highly controversial in Christian circles.

The Bible teaches that God never pours out His wrath on a nation without first sending remedial judgments and prophetic voices to warn of God’s impending judgment and to call the nation to repentance. Rabbi Cahn believes that when it comes to the United States, God already has been emphatically warning us, and since we haven’t listened, is delivering us from judgment to destruction. And, as always has been the case with anyone who historically speaks out in prophetic manner calling people for repentance, Jonathan has of course been severely attacked.

In this series we are going to discuss his basic message concerning God’s warnings to America and also ask him about some of the accusations that have been hurled against him.

Historic Parallels

Nathan Jones: Do you believe that when it comes to God’s judgment on the nations, that Israel is the model for the world?

Jonathan Cahn: Yes.

Nathan Jones: So any nation would fall under the same judgments as Israel did if that nation rejects God?

Jonathan Cahn: Well, it can. Yes, the thing is that God is consistent, number one. God is the same God. He doesn’t change. And number two, the Bible says what was written to Israel is for us. So, in other words, Israel is the one model we have for anything. God dealt with Israel. Israel is the center of God’s purposes. Anytime you hear a message preached, it’s generally something that’s happened to Israel that applies to all of our lives. We see from the Bible that it’s not only Israel God has also judged, but other nations back then as well. But, Israel is the template, of course.

Nathan Jones: There are just so many parallels between God’s treatment of Israel and the United States according to your book.

Jonathan Cahn: It’s amazing!

Dr. Reagan: You have pointed those out over and over, and I have over the years too in some of my books that I’ve written. We’ve pointed out that Israel had great spiritual leaders. I’m talking about Judah in particular. They had great spiritual leaders. They had prosperity. They had safety. God blessed them in so many ways, just as He has done with us. But, it ultimately led to pride and to rebellion, and that’s exactly what’s happening to us as a nation.

You know, Jonathan, there are people I run across — Christians — who actually think God sits on His throne wrapped in an America flag. They say, “Oh, God would never touch us. He would never touch us.” What did the people say to Jeremiah? “God lives in our temple. He will never touch us.” Let me tell you, if God will destroy Jerusalem and His very Temple, He will destroy the United States of America. People need to know that.

Jonathan Cahn: Yes, there’s something special about the relationship. There are two extremes. One is to say that there’s nothing special about America, but that’s not true. On the other hand, to say that America is Israel or that the main thing is patriotism, that’s not it either. The main thing is God. There is only one God. Even patriotism can become a god.

The point is that God says that there’s no nation that’s exempt from His judgment. Even Israel itself, which was built by God and had the Temple, was not exempt. The Lord said to Jeremiah to the effect, “You keep on saying, ‘This Temple, this Temple,’ but I’ll destroy this Temple.” He said to Ezekiel, “Your wife is going to die.” God was saying that like a death Israel’s sin was how much it was hurting him. This judgment then has to happen to Israel.

If judgment happened to Israel, then we here in the United States certainly cannot say we are exempt, rather in fact it’s the opposite — we are in danger! To much that is given, much is required. The more we’ve been blessed, the more we are accountable and the more severe the judgment.

In the third segment of our interview with Jonathan Cahn on America, we’ll go back into the history of the United States and look at the Puritan Covenant.

And Yahweh appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him,
"I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.
If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land,
or if I send pestilence among my people, if my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways,
then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land."
2 Chronicles 7: 12-14

As the subject of spouses has been up. Do you have any idea how frustrating (plus wanting to cause physical damage) it is when UncleE lays down and says I’m going to sleep, now. and is sound asleep in about five minutes?

I applaud your moral strength to resist the temptation. 👍

Another bastion of unbiased and well-researched news. I wonder if they get their opinions from Media Bias, or vice-versa?

I personally would never set foot in a mega church. Actually, except for the Net I've never seen one.

You'll never see a good old-fashioned covered dish supper at one of those fancy-schmancy televangelist resorts. I remember one in particular at a small country church. I didn't know there were that many variations of potato salad in the whole damn world, much less one little church.

Hahaha. Isn't that the truth. I wonder how many of us long married husbands judge all potato salads against those we're used to prepared by our wives? I'm a horrible critic.

As a bred to the marrow of my bones southern woman, it embarrasses me there is nary a single family potato salad recipe. I have to use UncleE’s mother’s recipe.

Jeanette uses her long gone mother's recipie too. Who adds a dash of Tabasco to their coleslaw? Then there's macaroni salad. I gotta stop. I'm getting "hongry."

The thing I really hate is the lying in politics, especially by Trump. According to the NY Times, he has lied 30,000 times. His second greatest big lie is that his judges are all in collusion with the Democrats to persecute our favorite career criminal.

You are extremely sick. Trump was not the subject but that is all you can think of. Most people would say Trump has free rent in your brain but I think you’re a pea brain is large enough to house anything even good thought.

The elder I live with and care for makes excellent macaroni salad and I don’t like pasta.

The mayonnaise makes it. Dukes is the BEST plus it is sugar free. Good for diabetics!
