We are either indoctrinated to believe in "blind justice" and the "rule of Law," and, a "merit-based society where the freedom to compete independently apart from a socialistic government of a few unelected bureaucratic lunatics who try to overwhelm us with their bogus rules just because they can. Or, we are indoctrinated to believe that "government is god" and above the Law; so, anyone who works for a government like we now have is free from prosecution (for example, Merrick Garland).
