There is one reason to believe this particular trial is nothing short of political persecution. The charge is a misdemeanor, under NY law, and the statute of limitations had expired. In order to meet his commitment to get Trump, Bragg rewrote it as a Federal offense and filed it just barely within the statute of limitations.

First of all who's business is it if a person has a relationship with anyone? Whether it be sexual or otherwise! It definitely isn't the governments business and still isn't their business if one party pays the other party to keep quiet about the relationship!
