OK. You ask Why is more CO2 bad for the planet? I'll go out on limb and answer Why is it bad for life on this planet? (since the planet itself doesn't care)

1. As the climate warms, the temperate zone moves north. With the rapid warming already in effect, the plants adapted to the temperate zone can't keep up.

2. At some point the ice in Greenland and Antarctica melts, creating a rise in sea level. Catastrophic for the infrastructure which has been built on the assumption of a stable sea level.

3. The permafrost begins to melt. Embedded in it are who knows what pathogens we haven't seen for thousands of years.

That's all I have time for.

Let's not forget the global conveyor belt.

Thanks publican for trying to educate the uneducatable.

Oh yeah? Well, you and your mother too.

Here's a few points you need to know before you can even BEGIN to understand the issues involved in global climate change:

. basic thermodynamics
. calculus
. the concept of half-life
. carbon dating
. probability & statistics
. other things

When you have a good grounding in all these, come back and we can have a reasonable discussion. Until then, put your head down, do some serious studying, and stop making a fool of yourself in public.

First, I have probably forgotten more about thermodynamics than you will ever know. Half life and carbon dating have no place in the climate change discussion.
You need to understand that a) CO2 is not a major factor in planet warming…it is less than 0.04% of the atmosphere. b) if we as a planet could reach zero CO2 it would kill the planet. c) if the planet was even two degrees warmer we would have longer growing seasons.
Study the subject before you run your mouth and show your ignorance to the world.

Oldy, you are wrong on every level. You don't fool anyone. You don't know the first thing about thermo or anything else. It's clear you didn't make it last 10th grade which is why you joined the Navy, but somehow you didn't see the world.

(a) Are you prepared to eat 40 grams of cyanide? That's .04% of you. Couldn't possibly have any affect on your health.

Your point (b) is a nonsequitor. Tossing that in shows you know you are full of it. I'll give you credit for that little bit of self-awareness.

Your point (c) is just stupid. Take into account ALL the factors, including the many disastrous negatives, not just one minor positive.

It is people like you who are causing the demise of the human race. Your grandchildren, if you ever have any, will curse you.

Overall, your post gets a grade of D-.

And I forgot to address two other points. The concept of half-life plays an essential role in understanding haw long greenhouse gases remain in the atmosphere. Carbon dating is used in determining the history of CO2 levels, at least for the last few tens of thousands of years. You can do your own research if you want to know how that is done.

And don't ask for further explanations from me.i am not in the habit of wasting time on simpletons who have no hope of ever getting it. If you want to know more, you could start by remembering all that thermodynamics you have forgotten. Then you could go on to some basic chemistry and fluid mechanics, Of course, you had better have a solid understanding of multivariate calculus and differential equations before you even start.

Think you can handle all that?

You are such a fool. There is no point in even talking with you. You have no idea about real atmospheric make up.

"The inferior mind mocks what it does not understand. The superior mind seeks to rectify its ignorance."

I am sorry to say it, oldy, but you are definitely in the first class.
