An insurrection is an armed revolt. Nobody was armed but the Capitol police. If it wasn't a made up farse, the police would have used their weapons to stop being assaulted. The have guns, tazers, and tear gas. They opened the doors and let them in, if it wasn't made up, they would have locked the doors and never allowed anyone in the building.
