After the 2014 coop, orchestrated by the US and Nuland to overthrow the elected government of the Ukraine, the new puppet government started to shell the Dunbass area of Eastern Ukraine killing over 14000 Russian speaking people. This had lasted for over eight years. The new government even outlawed the Russian language.
As for Crimea it was never a province of Ukraine. In 1953 Soviet leader Kruschev gave control over Crimea to the communist government of the Ukraine, but no formal documents were signed ceding to Ukraine.
After many years of belligerence suffered by the people of Crimea and the two areas of the Donbas each aera held elections. Over eighty percent voted to join the Russian Federation, But Putin had already anixt Crimea in 2014.

Interesting parallel. In 2011 Susan Powell convinced Obama to bomb the crap out of Libay on the pretext of "Duty To Protect". Part of that was in all likelihood Gaddafi telling the US and International Bankers he would no longer accept Dollars for oil. He would only trade for gold.
Putin before he went into Ukraine filed with the UN under article 50 that he bound by international law to protect the people and areas of Ukraine that had by a valid election had voted to join Russia.
Do you know that Putin had asked Bill Clinton in a face to face meeting if it would be possible for Russia to become a member of NATO. Clinton said he would look in to it. But of course it was denied. Why? Putin realized that as a member of NATO, Russia would have no fear of Western aggression and hegemony and maintain its sovereignty as an equal on the world stage.
This is not what the US and NATO want. The US and the greedy international banking cartels and the WEF would like nothing more than break Russia in to smaller controllable mini states so they can come in and rape their vast resources for their own benefit.

When Putin finally invaded Ukraine, it was when Ukrainian militias were getting ready for a massive push to subjugate the Donbas and crush their own citizens who happened to be of Russian descent. All of that is the result of the west sponsored illegal coup in 2014. Somehow I get the idea of a illegal coup as being worse then any so called Russian interference in our elections.

And the people of the donbas were revolting against the Ukrainians who were trying to force them to get rid of their culture. Although Ukrainians they spoke mostly Russian and their culture was more Russian. So it was fellow Ukrainians who were trying to forcefully "impose their will on them" in the donbass without any need for this.

Keep in mind that Khrushchev wanted those missiles in Cuba to counteract the NATO missiles in Turkey aimed at Moscow. And Khrushchev backed down only when Kennedy was forced to remove his missiles.
