My preparer tells me this is not a big deal, and she will fax them the paperwork they require once I bring the letter to her.
What is getting me angry is that in the letter the good folks at the IRS state that once they receive the documents they demand, it will be another 6 to 8 weeks until they send me my refund. I should have already gotten my freaking refund by now. So is this a tactic by the IRS to delay paying me the money they owe me ? If this was the other way around, I suspect that I would be subject to interest and hefty penalties.

Maybe you should be angry at your tax preparer. My tax preparer includes copies of my W-2's and 1099's when he sends my tax return to the IRS; this was they don't have to ask for them as they already have them.
