That's why I got my hand up fast. I am so tired of the popular kids getting called on before me. Just cause I am fat and have pimples and sit in the back row with the bad guys, you adults in the room, think I don't know the answers. I'm smart. I never get the chance to show what I can do.

I'm glad that's all over with now. Your insight was so dazzling, no doubt you will never have to settle for the back row again.

Being in the back row with the bad guys was why I got a D in 9th grade geometry. Until that year I was on track to become a math genius. Oh what might have been. In fact that whole year royally sucked. Got a D in French.

I read an interesting article about dogs' barking/intimidation behavior. Especially concerning postal workers/regular service visitors. Because all these people come to the house...and then leave while the dog is barking/aggressive...the dog is sure that he/she has been successful in his/her duty of running-off the threat/protecting the house.

I used to do pest control and when I would meet up with the home owner who was rarely home I would tell them how seriously their dogs took their responsibility of protecting their home. I was only ever attacked one time and it was a Pitt Bull. He was protecting his owner

I've been "attacked" several times. By attacked, I mean the animal actually made contact with me.
The one's that stick out in my mind were a German shepard mix of some sort, a German Shepard, a Pit Bull, and a Labradoodle, or, some such.
I'm lucky in that I don't have many dog issues on my mail route. It happens, but it's rare.
A friend of mine carries a route in a seedy part of town that has made him like a gunslinger with dog spray. From my experiences, and others, it isn't breed specific at all. A dog is a dog. Some just have different personalities, and upbringings.

The visual of the gunslinging dog spraying got a laugh. The most friendly dogs I ever encountered were two Rottweilers and the most aggressive dog I encountered was a Rottweiler. It all depends on the individual dog.

Knew an electric-meter reader who jumped a fence to "read the meter" and 5 trained German Shepherd guard dogs came off the porch at a run. There was one tree, (not big enough to climb) and he put his back against it. He had his "dog spray"...he said they ate it...made almost no difference. Luckily the owner was home...came out/said 1 word...they sat down and growled at him until he explained who he was. There had been a "clerical error" on his card. There was supposed to be a notice that NO ONE was EVER supposed to enter her yard.

Yeah, the German Shepard that got me was out front with his owner, and I didn't know it. As I was walking toward the house, the guy got up, and started walking my way. Before I could even react, the dog came from between the houses, and had me by the forearm, almost took me to the ground. The guy said one word that I didn't understand, and the dog instantly let go, and went in the house. Man! You wanna talk about a heart stopping moment! He was trying to warn me that the dog was out, but too late. It happened so fast that there was no time to react at all. Luckily, I was dressed in full winter gear, so it didn't break the skin, but, I sure was sore for a while.

The dog spray they issue us is just a mild pepper spray. It just pisses some of them off even more. You gotta hit em in the eyes with it to do any good. With some, that just buys you a few seconds to find a defensible position, or get away. It shuts some of em down. You never know.

The Pit that went after me knocked its owner down at the front door to get to me as I was handing her the service slip. He pinned me against the wall jumping up trying to bite my face. Luckily like you it was winter and I had a heavy jacket on so I kept sticking my arm in its mouth. PTSD is a real thing. For about a year after that every time I would hear a dog barking my heart would race a little. I’m a big dog lover. I’ve been volunteering at a shelter called Frosted Faces and they have lots of Pitties so I’ve been getting over my fears through immersion.

Lol! Not that it's funny, it's terrifying, at best.
It just reminded me of one when I first started carrying mail.
I had a package needing a signature, and the dog, a pit, blew right between that ladies legs when she opened the door, and was all over me. I shoved my scanner in his mouth until I could hop the porch rail, and get to my vehicle.
Long story short, the lady reported me for being abusive to her dog. After the "incident investigation" with the Postal Service, her mail delivery was canceled, and she had to get a P.O. box because her dog attacked a carrier.
The bite marks on the scanner sealed the deal.
People are just dumb when it comes to dogs.
See my avatar. That is an 85-90 lb. Pit/American Bulldog. If someone comes to our door, he's shut in a bedroom before the dorr is opened because he will take you off your feet to get outside, and see whats up.
Will he bite? Don't know. But, I'll never tell you he won't.
You wouldn't believe how many times I've been told a dog won't bite when it's looking at me with teeth bared, back hair up, and totally defensive.
Yeah!! He won't bite YOU!!

I always tell people my dogs are obnoxious, not mean...but there's always that exception. I had a old black non-descript dog wander up, never left. She was the meanest/most aggressive dog if I happened to be out in the yard when ANYONE pulled up...I guess she adopted me as her human.

I have a smaller mutt rescue and a boxer both female. They are both so friendly it’s not even funny, unless you taste like chicken you’re pretty safe.
