Actually those that find "Christians" to be despicable is the fact they hate the message of the Good News because they love to live in spiritual darkness they don't like to hear how they're living isn't lining up to Gods will for all mankind .

This is the good news: "Hahahaha, you poor simpleton. Trump. Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump. He's a far better man than you'll ever be. Sometimes you get so stupid and simple-minded you actually make us laugh." ???

It's not that I live in spiritual darkness (how would you even know how I live?) but that this Christian contempt for everyone who doesn't accept your particular understanding of the divine will is despicable.

I did not misread what you "saud", did you?

Sorry for the misspelling, Mr. Perfect. I know you have never done such a thing in all your time on OPP. It does not need a Constitutional amendment. Each state could decide on its own.

How many times do I have to say it? Here is the 2nd paragraph again:

YOU don't seem to grasp that there are four or give states that will be paid attention to (their big populations), the rest of the country doesn't matter in this scenario. Hardly democracy.

I give up. You can tell the horse that 2 plus 2 is four a million times, but he will never get it.

Each state has decided on its own, why are you beating a dead horse?

You say: "I don't play 'what if'."

From which we conclude you never made it beyond the lowest rank. It is basic to being a commander in any military organization to play "what if" all the time - so as to be prepared for any eventually.

If this were a military situation - but it isn't. It is simply you trying to accomplish something using fictional parameters.

Lots of difference there - but it seems you are not able to comprehend that.

Well, excuse me. Where were you in 2016? Casting your vote for the Orange One. So don't give me this crap about "I have posted repeatedly I do not want him to run". You sure the heck didn't have the perceptivity to see what tfg was going to do back then, did you?

My ego has nothing to do with it. I showed, in a perfectly rational way, a flaw in the electoral college system which could lead to a seriously paradoxical result. Your discomfort with that possibility doesn't make it any less real. You Magats have the delusion that reality can be made to conform to your wishes. That is the thinking of a small child. Adults learn that it can't.

Actually, as I pointed out, it is quite irrational. You seem to be lacking the ability to understand that.

Hey buster, you were the one who said "I don't play 'what if'."

Were you home-schooled, or what? You start by misunderstanding what I posted (here is the critical 2nd paragraph: "To show the principle involved I am going to use very approximate numbers. Those who can't handle simple arithmetic, and those who don't understand what "very approximate" means, need read no further." Read it slowly and aloud until you get what I am saying here). Then you go off on some wild tangent as if I was proposing something you don't like.

In fact, I am proposing nothing. I am just elucidating a feature of the electoral college system which could lead to the surprising result of a president being elected while winning only a quarter of the votes.

If you can demonstrate that this strange outcome is actually impossible I would like to hear it.

Your basic premise is flawed. That has been pointed out - but you seem unable to understand that. Perhaps you are the one needing to be home-schooled.

I am happy to see that you are a vet, which I assume means you are no longer in the military. When you left, the average IQ must have gone up quite a bit. Was that discharge honorable, dishonorable, or general?

When the Founders set up the electoral college scheme for electing the president, it seemed like a good idea. But the way it functions now contains a fatal problem.

To show the principle involved I am going to use very approximate numbers. Those who can't handle simple arithmetic, and those who don't understand what "very approximate" means, need read no further.

Let's assume there are 200 million voters distributed among 50 states, so each state has 4 million voters. We also assume each state uses the "winner take all" method. To win the election a candidate then needs to win 26 states. In each state he needs 2M plus 1 votes. So altogether he needs to win 52,000,026 votes, which just over a quarter of the total votes. In this way a demagogue with a solid base of less than a third of the electorate can become president.

First you need to understand how the electoral college is set up. To prevent the large cities from controlling government it is set to allow the 1,759,000 rural voters to have a chance of a voice in the vote. I have heard this BS for so long that each time I hear it I ask why don’t you understand? The answer really is simple big cities are supported by their whole state taking tax dollars away from the people who seldom go to those cities. It is NOT FAIR to the people living in rural areas of a state to be totally ruled by the cities.

I understand - but I will keep telling you in the hope that you might someday 'get it'. Doubtful, but possible.
