There is more to it. You have to be born to US Citizen parents, or at least one parent a US Citizen. If one of your parents is a citizen then you are considered a birth citizen no matter where you are born according to 8 USC 1401

Because the Constitution says otherwise. It would take a new Constitutional amendment to change it. Americans have a deep-seated fear of Little Nikita Sleepers and Manchurian Candidates. What you advocate for would probably give us better candidates than the ones we get now, as long as they are properly vetted. But who would do that? The corrupt FBI or CIA? The lying leftist media? That's a genie that can never be put back in the bottle as we've seen how corrupt the deep state blob and the Democrap Party can be. I am pretty much sure that I could never even try to become President (not that I ever want to) because US considers my country of origin as the enemy of the US...

Unlike Ted Cruz, who was born in Canada and had Canadian citizenship until 2013. His mother was a native born American, which apparently made his WH run legit. Maybe.

Sad but true. I think anyone who got out of the Former USSR and became a citizen here should be allowed to run if they meet all the pre reqs you listed. The first Non Amercan born person who I would vote for most likely is Arnold(YES the Terminator)AHHHHnald would get my vote besides he is connected with the Kennedys and a GOP Stalwart thus both parties views he would understand.

It is written in the US constitution that the president must be born here. You need to sit down and read a copy of the constitution. Also the President must be 35 years old. However the case of Ted Cruz, born in Canada, was never settled as a natural born citizen when he ran for president. The case was pending when it was dropped when he quit running.

The clause was put in the constitution by Thomas Jefferson. He put that in the constitution to prevent his political enemy, Alexander Hamilton, from becoming president. Hamilton was born in St. John, Virgin Islands, and therefore was not eligible to become president.
