The U.S. Border Patrol had nearly 250,000 encounters with migrants crossing into the United States from Mexico in December 2023, according to government statistics. That was the highest monthly total on record, easily eclipsing the previous peak of about 224,000 encounters in May 2022.

Jan 2024,subsided a little due to very cold weather. That will surge again starting April 2024.

I think your source is inaccurate...since I can see thousands crossing at Coranado national forest, in Sierra Vista, Arizona. On the hill you can see Douglas/August Prieta, and Naco/Naco, but Nogalas is too far away....
