How can students go into professions that don't pay a lot, if they have to pay enormous sums of money to pay back super expensive loans? Where will we get enough teachers, and social workers from?

So you're in favor of taking money from blue-collar.
workers who never got to go to college to pay for people who obligated themselves for loans so they could go to college?

Not fair to regular American workers at all or families that paid off their children's college loans.

Pres. Joseph Robinette Biden is planning to absolve many billions of dollars of college loan. This is an obvious move to curry favor with college loan debtors in an age group whose support that he is rapidly losing but desperately needs to keep. A previous attempt was ruled unconstitutional by good majority of The Supreme Court.

Although there are some nuances of differences in the two cases, this attempt will likely be declared unconstitutional also. That will be the SECOND action of his that will be found to be unconstitutional, not just illegal but unconstitutional.

Where are the liberal keepers of our conscience over this? Where’s Jack Smith? Where’s Merrick Garland?
As usual, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Dick Durban and the other liberal blowhards, such as those of OPP, about this blatant bribe of the electorate, remain silent. This is corruption of the greatest magnitude. It completely invalidates their authority but they will continue.

Self- righteous phonies!

43 million students with $1.2 trillion debts. Biden has been paying their loans by installment. Against Congress and against the Supreme Court ruling. By these actions, he rules like a Dictator!

He is using our money to buy votes. He is desperate to win the election this 2024 to stay in office, to protect him of his crimes.

Your dumb but crook president!

I looked it up, do it yourself so you know the information is not biased. There already is a system in place for student loan forgiveness.

A better idea would be to get student loan interest rates lower. Biden should not be able to void any contracts; however, he has done so. Congress sits on their hands instead of calling him to account for his actions.

It should be easy to get him for failing to secure the borders--an oath the President takes. Instead, he has actively hindered secure borders by his edits and enjoining others to cease to enforce laws already on the books.

I would agree with you that a more "educated" population is a good thing in general, but I would also say that we are dangerously close, or even over, the line separating "educated" from "indoctrinated". One reason that colleges in the US are so expensive is that by insuring that students have easy access to cash, the colleges and universities can rapidly increase their tuition and fees knowing that the students will be "able" to pay for it. Another question that has crossed my mind is if universities in other countries have large numbers of deans, provosts and VPs for "Equity, Inclusiveness and Diversity", or "Transgender Minority Outreach Programs" or "Women's BIPOC Studies Coordinator"?

Anyone who is thinking of borrowing money has to to think about two questions before hand. First of all is the value expected to be received from using the money worth the costs involved and secondly can the loan and resulting interest be paid back without undo hardship.

REMEMBER. it was Obama who "took over" student loans from the private sector. Probably for just the reasons we are experiencing. Government cannot fix anything successfully!

I believe that is contempt of court. Why isn't Barak Obiden being charged? Oh right, he isn't competent to have charges but good enough to run the country.

What was that grant the government gives? Pell grants? That helps. College is not mandatory and are indoctrination centers. You want college, you pay, just like I did 100% all of my degrees. Why should we the tax payer have to pay for useless degrees? Or any degree? You looking for your PhD to get paid? Another question. Since you are an academic or think you are one, a basic 4 year degree is about 128 credits? How many are in your major? 30x36? Add a little English and shouldn't be more than 40 credits. So why are people forced to pay for more? Why are credits so expensive where schools net 40 mil a year? Yes I know one college that did one year. My daughter's. Oh, she is a Doctor but had to take jewelry making, gym... Guess that will help when she does orthopedic surgery. So who are you or the government to tell us we must spend tax dollars to pay for parties and useless degress? Guess you like government handouts. In all your education, did any of the indoctrination centers offer a discount?

Why are the colleges and universities in the United States so expensive? It is because of the 'Student Loan Program', you can tract back to before the program and see how much less expensive it was to go to college, then the program hit and boom colleges & universities hit the jackpot. Everyone seems to think college is for everyone but it is not, we need trade people, do you really think a college grad who majored in music, art, social studies or business would be able to fix a car's engine, electric motor or the electrical issues, install a new furnace/A/C, install plumbing in a new home, repair a refrigerator or lay a new water or sewer line? We need trades whether you believe it or not!

Like so many other government programs, this one has careened out of control, ceasing to help those whom it was designed to help and instead now - and for a long time prior - has allowed our colleges to rampantly inflate their coffers while offering a product of dubious benefit in many cases: outright indoctrination in others.

Instead of teaching a generation of our youth that there's no reason for them to be resposible for their actions or need to work hard to dispense their debts, the program needs to be revamped to assure that the courses offered will
allow for a decent living wage to be earned, and provide 'professors' who have appropriate knowledge of the actual subject matter, rather than an ulterior, leftist philosophy to insist be espoused in their classes.
Current and upcoming students can also live like the rest of us did in small, unextraordinary apartments we were anxious to depart to start our life's work. Some of us even worked our ways through college - and we sure didn't earn $15 bucks an hour.
College isn't meant to offer the best living conditions a lot of thes kids have ever encountered. We need to let the colleges, with their billions in alumni moneys, know we will not agree to the ridiculous fees and rates of increased costs this student loan program has allowed and in fact fed.
