Trump has already announced he will appeal, as he always does. But, in New York state you have to put up a bond for 120% of the damages due before you can lodge an appeal. It remains to be seen whether anyone will do that for a serial fraudster with a history of not paying his bills.

Great news. My mother said that she would never vote for Trump in 1 million years. After watching this she said she’s voting for Trump. Thank you very much.

Bird, you must'a forgotten the fact that Trump and his legal team refused a jury and instead, chose to have a judge hear their case. So, the assessment of damages was determined by the judge assigned and accepted.

But, you continue with some of the best memes on OPP.

It is my understanding that campaign donations cannot be used for paying civil lawsuit damages. Instead, campaign-related expenses include disbursements to the campaign, including payments for day-to-day expenses such as staff salaries, rent, travel, advertising, telephones, office supplies and equipment, fundraising, etc.

I watched ABC news today they said Trump already used $50 million worth of donations to pay his lawyers. That’s how the Democrats get you your pocketbook.

Why there's no jury for Trump's New York civil fraud case

Former President Donald Trump has complained repeatedly that the civil trial in New York, where he’s accused of business fraud, does not have a jury – and the fate of the case is up to Judge Arthur Engoron.

Trump’s lawyers say the New York state law that state Attorney General Letitia James used to bring the complaint against him – a civil statute giving the state attorney general wide latitude to go after “persistent fraud” in business – did not allow him to request a jury trial.

But legal experts familiar with New York state law say that the question of whether Trump could have sought a jury trial is complicated. While Trump may not have been likely to succeed, experts said the question of a jury trial is something that Trump’s lawyers could have tried to litigate.

“It’s not entirely clear whether Trump would have been entitled to a jury trial under New York law – that would depend on nuanced legal determinations about the nature of the remedy sought by the attorney general,” said Elie Honig, a CNN senior legal analyst and former federal and New Jersey prosecutor. “But Trump’s legal team absolutely could have requested a jury, litigated the issue, and then appealed had they lost.”

At the start of the trial, Engoron noted that no parties in the case requested a jury trial and that the law mandated a “bench trial” decided by a judge.

“You have probably noticed or already read that this case has no jury,” Engoron said. “Neither side asked for one and, in any event, the remedies sought are all equitable in nature, mandating that the trial be a bench trial, one that a judge alone decides.”

Trump’s lawyers have pushed back on the notion that they failed to request a jury trial, as some have suggested based on paperwork filed in the case.

“Under 63 (12), which is what this case is, you don’t have a right - an absolute right to a jury,” Trump lawyer Alina Habba said on Fox News previously.

Here's much on the subject to peruse...take your pick.

Paying legal fees appears to be admissible, but not civil damages from a trial.

How would it piss off the left to see ignorant peckerwood racists fleeced by a grifter before he goes to prison? Frankly it is sort of entertaining. Like a carnival freak show.

One thing I found out is that while the judgment was $355 Million it compounds at an interest rate of 9% from the points where the fraud was committed so the actual judgment is closer to $450 Million now and even though he appeals, which he will lose, it continues to compound interest until the full amount is paid. Oh, and one more thing, his worth is in his assets which are going to be stripped down to nothing for the sake of selling them...unless one of you wants to pay full value. Do you? I didn't think so. Anyway, Donald really does need money and you people are stupid enough to give it to him so start giving and give and give and give until you are tapped out because, in the end, THAT is what your king is going to do for you and the country if you let him!!!

Oh, one more thing, Donald isn't running cuz he wants to be president, he's running to stay out of jail. That sums up Donald Trump right there. He will use you and us until he can't use us anymore...

Yes but do you have any proof that they did not ask for a jury trial
