Shocking to some, I guess. A tragedy blown into a political volleyball for attempted partisan gain, IMHO.

My heart broke at the loss of our personnel there, just as it does with the loss of every single soldier in the field, be it private or General. But, I never sensed malicious or criminal behavior, whatsoever. I found it surprising that more attention was paid this incident than the loss of 241 Marines at Beirut in the early-mid 80s.

Still heartbreaking. :cry:

I just read "The Citizens Commission Report reveals new damaging report", released July 2014.

It looks like Rep. Gowdy's commission will be the tie breaker. We shall see.

I was saddened upon hearing of the deaths of Ambassador Stephens and his small group. But, I am saddened by the death of any service member, be it a private or general. What surprised me was the attention it garnered compared to the murder of 241 Marines in Beirut, 1983, as well as other incidents over the past 30 years or so.

I don't know if you can ever prevent such incidents from occurring. Finger-pointing is easy, after the fact. Better communication between different departments might have prevented it from happening...that night. Incidents such as this will happen...again. That is the world we live in.

Still, it is heartbreaking.
