I've been to the border too, Skippy.
And they let you in?

Ports of entry are completely different than the wide open Rio Grande. I just watched the CBS news where they showed people wading that river to get here. Eagle Pass, Texas.
Yeah, they're different alright, the Rio Grande is where you folks who don't want immigrants coming in can see how desperate they are to find safety in the U.S. so you put up walls and razor wire to keep them out without even noticing that most of the immigrants are coming in through ports of entry.
So I'm trying to figure this out... Are you folks just sadistic or just really stupid?

I'll give it to you that you can pull the wordy wordsmith garbage, and make a decent argument sometimes.
But, in the case of the border, you're either stupid, a liar, or a schill for the invasion of My country.
So, I'm going to use this "I can't dispute his points so I'll just insult him" tirade as as an example of what I am talking about when I say the inability for people to compromise is the real threat to democracy.
You made sure to emphasize that this is YOUR country. Fact is... you don't own it. You share it with 350 million people, most of whom disagree with you. But you dismiss their opinions and whatever facts they present and accuse them of being a "schill" for the "invasion" of YOUR country. A perfect example of self-righteousness if there ever was one but more than that, it exemplifies this uncompromising attitude that it's your way or nothing.

You're an immigrant?
Are you a citizen?
Where did you come from?
How did you get here?
What is your native nationality?
LOL - Who the **** are you? Mr. Authority? Are you gonna deport me?
Not that it's any of your business but yes, I'm an immigrant... Yes, I'm a citizen... I came from the UK with my parents when I was 2 years old, We arrived on a plane and my nationalities are British and American. As for which one is my "native" nationality, I couldn't really tell you. First of all, there's no such official status and secondly, I was only in the UK for the first two years of my childhood, I basically grew up in California so, I feel more American than British.
This is why I sympathize with those people protected by DACA. I was in fact a childhood arrival, who had no choice in the matter. The difference is that we came in legally, but if we didn't, there wouldn't be anything I could have done about it. I was a baby. I went where my parents went. Since then, I went to school, got a degree, got a career, got married and raised a family of four. I probably paid more taxes than you have over the years. If my parents DID come here illegally, it would not have been MY fault but I would be threatened with deportation anyway, which means I would have to leave my kids, my job, my wife and move to a country I barely know. All because some people with a say in the government are inconsiderate bigots.
My background might also explain my opinion on keeping immigrants out in general. My father was an aerospace engineer who was invited to the U.S. because the space program needed talent and had to look to Europe to find it. We were actually invited to this country. Almost all my friends growing up were either immigrants or first generation Americans because the aerospace companies in the area were so dependent on engineers from Europe. That was the 60s. Today, I am a software engineer surrounded by Asians because that's where the U.S. high-tech industry get's most of it's talent.
So the message here is that the U.S. NEEDS immigrants. All those F-16s, iPhones, spacecraft... All those things we call American ingenuity... all those things that make the US military more effective and powerful are in large part invented and designed by immigrants.
The alternative would be to invest more in public education so we can develop a large enough talent pool of our own to support our industries. Several administrations have made attempts but what they can squeak in without too much notice on omnibus tickets is never enough to bring it up to European or Asian standards. So there will always be an influx of engineers, scientists and doctors from Europe and Asia.
This is why people are leaving California, btw... It's the part that right-wing media omits... Californians are being displaced by people coming in from Europe and Asia. These immigrants are getting the top-dollar salaries and inflating property values. It's called gentrification. The displaced people are saying it's government policy.., yada-yada-yada, because they can't own up the the fact that they just can't afford to live there anymore.
It's not like we don't have natural talent. We do. It's just that we don't invest in public education. We are the nation with the third largest population... if we provided all of them with free education, like they do in Europe and Asia, it stands to reason that we would have a healthier pool of usable talent. But the private sector filters out all the undiscovered talent that don't have the money. There's a LOT of blue-collar technicians in America that have the talent to be scientists if they could afford the privilege.
Still... the same political factions that want to keep immigrants out also don't want to invest in public education.

Like I said, you provide decent arguments; but the self righteous, condescending, narcissistic gaslighting gives you away.
...Or America can just continue to bicker and insult each other for having different opinions.
