We can't say that's what the news does anymore. But I remember a time when news casters presented facts without opinions and my mom, dad and their siblings "other adults" would sit around and talk about it. There were different thoughts and opinions on topics but no division. One occasion from childhood stands out for me and that was when Kennedy was killed.

Simple answer is no. Well, the only answer is limited decentralized government as people who seek power will nearly always abuse the power granted to them. They may say or do anything to keep that power. The more centralized the government the more centralized the corruption and abuses. The more centralized the corruption and abuses the more difficult it is to fight or escape. There is no answer as long as the majority of the people don't understand the problem nor do they desire to change it.

The government is the second largest sector of the country. Real estate is number one. With the number of people dependent on government from government contractors, government employees, private and corporate special interest groups, non-profit tax exempt entities and those enslaved to government handouts we are very likely past the tipping point. There may not be enough freedom loving voters left so that we may vote to return to a limited federal government as laid out in the constitution. I fear the only eventual outcome is a civil war or revolution sometime in the future to rectify what the politicians have destroyed.

No. 1st amendment. What needs to happen is we need to reverse the trend of the dumbing down of our younger folks, so that they can think critically and know what TikTok (or whatever source) is and what happens if you elect to use it. Sadly, those with power like things the way they are and the way they are going. Banning TikTok would solve nothing.

I agree. And the way people will run with a rumor, not even wait till there's any evidence, just hearsay "so and so" says type accusations. Once people get it in their heads, even if you present them with alternative evidence, they wont believe it. I call it "stuck on stupid"!
