Lately I have gotten several spam calls from people wanting to know my Medicare card number for one reason or another . These scammers want your number so they can charge items such as hospital bed-wheel chairs etc. to you account so they can re sell them and you wind up paying for it. Medicare won't ever call and ask you for your number . Just don't give it out .

They must call thousands of people a day and get a few to give up their number. Why else would they do it . I am told that is almost impossible to catch these people . same with people posing as IRS agents wanting your tax info and saying you owe them.

Also, never answer your phone using the word yes. It seems there are groups who record that and use it for nefarious purposes.

I have a recording app on my cell phone and I record scammers calling my house on my land line. I had to turn the ringer off because it rings off the hook all day long starting from seven in the morning until after nine at night! I have hours of recordings of me scamming them. I am (not really!) Seamus O'Shaughnessy in one of my AKAs. It's hilarious spelling it out over and over and these foreigners having trouble with the apostrophe! Another of my AKAs is "Boris Frankenstein" and I get calls for "Boris" all the time. I tell them I'm retired from the "World's Fair", where I was an Elephant Trainer for fifty years. The big ones! The Indian Elephants! As a result of my faithful fifty years service to the Elephants, I was granted fifty pounds of peanuts in the mail every month. The Elephants never forget! These scammers don't even bat an eye! Astonishing! These recordings are so funny, I end up with tears running down my face! You should try it if you have a land line! I'm retired, so what the hell? Rock on, dudes and dudettes!
