The pot-shack in Boot Camp consisted of all the greasy, nasty pots and pans used to cook, bake or broil all foods fed to the thousands of recruits at MCRD. I/We hated the days they served bread-pudding. Those pans needed dynamite to break the crusty stuff off and clean them. It was two weeks of sheer misery. I, to this day, will not eat bread pudding, which I liked before I went into the Corps.

I shiver with memories of the pot-shack.

i hear you friend i only had one day of it, glad it wasn't bread pudding

Thanks Marine. You know that, had I not been a corpsman, I would have been a Marine. It worked out good for me, as I never had latrine duty.

You know, I prefer people with strong opinions, as opposed to those with none. I can't tell you how many times I've changed my mind, because of what someone else has said. Those who can't, or won't listen to anyone else, have their uses as well, because they may be right. I listen to everybody and reserve the right to accept, or reject their opinions, as I see fit. It isn't necessary for them to agree with me. I'm just selfish that way.

Please allow me to get in on this................I love all of you. I think you are the shoulders the rest of us ride on. I don't always agree with you either, and I sometimes agree with the foe, but a good argument is almost as good as a really fine wine, wouldn't you say? We learn so much from each other, friend and foe. Wouldn't it be miraculous if all of us came to love each other - and NO I am not of the flower=child era. I was already hard at work when that foolishness hit the scene.

Let's just say that I have never turned down a gift ....... and see no need to start. We're on a street by ourselves so don't have many halloween trick or treaters - ergo, the few we DO get go home with enough treats to last a while!

At the risk of offending Mormans on this site. I am a victim and survivor of their war against Lamanites. I have Native blood.

Oh...wait! There have been many crimes associated over the centuries, even in recent years, committed in the guise of Faiths besides Islamic. Try the Inquisition or even the Salem Witch Trials, for instance. One need not dig deep to find numerous examples of such. Most were done by individuals in the name of a religion.

Let those who have not sinned cast the first stone.

You have five women in your immediate family and you spout morally relativistic crap like this?! Perhaps you should read the Koran and then beg forgiveness from your own. I will go so far as to admit some consistencies between the Old Testament and the Koran prior to Muhammad but the divergence between the two religions was absolute after Christ and Muhammad lived their lives. The difference is also reflected in the before and after of the existence of the USA. The USA was founded and built on Judeo-Christian values whether you like it or not and was a truly wonderful creation for the world moreso then the USA itself. While we have had some disappointing wars they have been disappointing for the mere fact that we did not maintain control (i.e. ownership) of the countries we went to war with. We left them to their own devices which is totally different then any other country in the history of the world and possibly a mistake. The Salem witch trials, while terrible, were an aberration. Slavery was our worst sin obviously but was ended with a bigger one. To compare the two religions present day is ignorant in the extreme and shows that you know absolutely nothing about this country's real history and even less of Islam's.

And it would be your OPINION that the Bible is the "book of truth". I happen to believe it myself, but I'm not arrogant enough to state that everything else is wrong. If I insist that everyone believe as I do, then I'm just as guilty as anyone else who does that - regardless of what religion they insist is the only truth.

As true as your words are, does it do us well to look at the things others have in common with our self? After all the Bible is one set of books. In it we find that HaShem, (God) does not change. Yet from the book of teachings, that gives us the same instruction from one church to another. there are so many trains of thought. Would we not be wise to seek out the absolute truth? Even if that means finding fault in our church, and in our self?

Believe it or not ( many don't ), disagreement is how progress is made. When one person, or group, come to think they have all the answers and know all the facts, progress comes to a screeching halt. It simply isn't possible for anyone to have all the answers WITHOUT polling others and comparing notes. History writers have a tendency to want everyone to believe that what they've written is the absolute truth, but we know that humans always put their OWN perceptions into such things, they can't help themselves. Discerning the truth requires sampling as many perceptions as possible and challenging them, to see what sticks and what falls apart.

We would all be much happier campers if we stopped taking such challenges personal and recognize that others are polling for the truth as well. You can love and respect someone, disagree and STILL love and respect them. I use an unwritten code such as this; " I hear what you're saying, I disagree and here's why..., BUT I will consider what you've said very carefully and I appreciate your taking the time to tell me something I didn't know".

There's a lot of drivel on this site, but amongst the flotsam there are some rare gems. They usually come from the same sources ( you know who you are ), but you just never know WHERE the wisdom is going to show up. I rarely "take on" someone because I don't like them, that's a waste of my time. I DO, however, often challenge someone's views, because I want more details as what they've said is interesting. I think the greatest compliment we can pay another person, is to challenge what they've said. NOT to try and change their minds, but because you want to give them the opportunity to change YOURS.

You comment doesn't make a lot of sense.

In Salem, their superstitions caused them to over react, and got a number of people killed and injured.

They did not start a religion, that spread world wide four 1,400 years, demanding, not only the beheading of witches, but, also of everyone else that doesn't have their beliefs.

So far the number of people who got hurt and killed in the Salem Witch hunts is less than twenty and it was all over before the year was out.

So far, the estimates of the number of people killed by the Muslims during their Medieval Caliphate is around 260 MILLION, with no end in site.

Let's see, one black pot:
Twenty people killed and injured to an over reaction to some really odd behaviour.

Let's see, second black pot, 260 MILLION PEOPLE, executed over fourteen hundred years, with no end in site.
Because, they don't believe in the right God, according to Mohammed.

20 people over a year................verses...................260 million people over 1,400 years.

Sure, that's just the kind of thing I think of, when I say, "a pot calling the kettle black."

Good post, Cold Iron. I totally hear you when you talk about how we can't profile because it's just not PC. Israel only avoids airline hijackings because it DOES profile! Not too long ago there was a case of a Muslim woman who told a TSA agent she refused to be patted down because of religious reasons and I think she got away with it! Then there was the case in Florida where a Muslim woman refused to have her drivers' license picture taken without her face covered with her veil. The DMV insisted that her face had to be shown for identification purposes and the woman sued for discrimination! Sometimes you have to wonder who the real enemy is, the terrorists or ourselves.

A spiritual battle with a historical background that many Biblical students are well aware! Agree or disagree, freedom of thought is right and privilege in this great land, AMERICA !.

This factually and historically) correct - and verifiable.

If you even go back further..

... In 732 AD the Muslim Army which was moving on Paris was defeated and turned back at Tours , France , by Charles Martell.

in 1571 AD the Muslim Army/Navy was defeated by the Italians and Austrians as they tried to cross the Mediterranean to attack Southern Europe in the Battle of Lapanto.

....in 1683 AD the Turkish Muslim Army, attacking Eastern Europe, was finally defeated in the Battle of Vienna by German and Polish Christian Armies.

....this crap has been going on for 1,400 years and half of these damn politicians don't even know it !!!

if these battles had not been won we might be speaking Arabic and Christianity could be non - existent;

Judaism certainly would be... And let us not forget that Hitler was an admirer of Islam and that the Mufti of Jerusalem was Hitler's guest in Berlin and raised Bosnian Muslim SS Divisions: the 13th and 21st Waffen SS Divisions who killed Jews, Russians, Gypsies, and any other "subhuman's".

Reflecting A lot of Americans have become so insulated from reality that they imagine that America can suffer defeat without any inconvenience to them selves.

........Pause a moment, reflect back. These events are actual events from history. They really happened!!!

Do you remember?

1. In 1968, Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed by a Muslim male.
2. In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by Muslim males.
3. In 1972 a Pan Am 747 was hijacked and eventually diverted to Cairo where a fuse was lit on final approach, it was blown up shortly after landing by Muslim males
4. In 1973 a Pan Am 707 was destroyed in Rome, with 33 people killed, when it was attacked with grenades by Muslim males.
5. In 1979, the US embassy in Iran was taken over by Muslim males.
6. During the 1980's a number of Americans were kidnapped in Lebanon by Muslim males.
7. In 1983, the US Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by Muslim males.
8. In 1985, the Cruise Ship Achilles Lauro was hijacked and a 70 year old American passenger was murdered and thrown overboard in his wheelchair by Muslim males.
9. In 1985, TWA flight 847 was hijacked at Athens, and a US Navy diver trying to rescue passengers was murdered by Muslim males.
10. In 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by Muslim males.
11. In 1993, the World Trade Center was bombed the first time by Muslim males.
12. In 1998, the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by Muslim males.
13. On 9/11/01, four airliners were hijacked; two were used as missiles to take down the World Trade Centers and of the remaining two, one crashed into the US Pentagon and the other was diverted and crashed by the passengers. Thousands of people were killed by Muslim males.
14. In 2002, the United States fought a war in Afghanistan against Muslim males.
15. In 2002, reporter Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and beheaded by---you guessed it was a--- Muslim male.
16. In 2013, Boston Marathon Bombing 4 Innocent people including a child killed, 264 injured by Muslim males.

No, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you?

So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people. So, ask yourself "Just how stupid are we???"

Absolutely No Profiling!
They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old, Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males, alone lest they be guilty of profiling.

Ask yourself "Just how stupid are we?"

Have the American people completely lost their Minds, or just their Power of Reason???

Let's send this to as many people as we can so that the Gloria Aldreds and other stupid attorneys along with Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel ashamed of themselves -- if they have any such sense.

As the writer of the award winning story 'Forrest Gump' so aptly put it, 'Stupid Is As Stupid Does'.

Each opportunity that you have to send this to a friend or media outlet...

DO IT,, OR SIT BACK, JUST KEEP GRIPING, AND DO-NOTHING.
May His merciful grace be shed upon the U.S.A. and... (show quote)

Amen and amen
