Well, Homestead, I was referring to your calling me a moron, when the entire history of your posts suggests that shoe may well be on your foot. When I read your comment, calling me a moron, I thought of Thomas Jefferson's quote: "Resort is had to ridicule only when reason is against us."

Then, I thought of Proverbs 26, verses 4 and 12, which state: "Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him"; and, "Seeth thou a man wise in his own conceit? There is more hope of a fool than of him."

Bottom line: I think as highly of you as you do of me. I can live with that...so should you. We'll both be fine.

P.S. 186,000 people, roughly, killed every year by Islam for 1400 years? Really? Not likely, but if true, I suspect more than that have been killed in the name of other religions, collectively or individually. In any event, that was not my point. That many people have been killed by countries and individuals in the name of religion was my point.

I work very hard to give people the titles they've earned. If you conduct yourself like a moron, then you've earned the title of moron.
Who am I, to deny you that which you've worked so hard to earn.

If you don't like the title, then change your behaviour.

Having problems with math are we.

At 260 million over 1,400 years, it's closer to 260,000 deaths every year, not 180,000, except that I got the number wrong, I just checked it.
It wasn't 260 million over 1400 years, it was 270 million over 1,400 years..
That means it's closer to 293,000 deaths per year.

This number doesn't come out of thin air.

Unlike your responses that come off the top of your head, it is based on research and here's a link to the summation of that research.

If you don't like what they found,............well .........you just tell them you don't approve and I'm sure they'll rewrite everything they found, just to please you.

In the meantime, it hasn't stopped, maybe your not paying attention, because, you don't care about anyone but yourself. But, there are others that are keeping track of the death toll, even now.

They think at some point the world will be outraged, little do they know the world is full of people like you that could care less.

"Jefferson's quote: "Resort is had to ridicule only when reason is against us."

Now why don't you explain the, "reasoning," you've given me?

I see an accusation, made from your opinion, opinions are not facts or reasoning.
I see you've made a denial of facts presented, but, I don't see any sources cited to counter them. This is not reasoning.

I see an unfounded and unsubstantiated statement by you:

"That many people have been killed by countries and individuals in the name of religion was my point"

Yet, I see no facts or substance to support it. You have put nothing of reason to support what you've said, it is only an unsubstantiated opinion.

You haven't provided anything that can be looked up or verified. You haven't provided a single source, of any kind, to demonstrate what you claim.

To ridicule a man, that man must have some kind of pride.
He must have some kind of intellectual honesty.

Trust me, you have neither, therefore you cannot be ridiculed.........congratulations.

I was using tried and true math, sir, not your 'new math'. Try multiplying 186,000 X 1400, and see what you get this time. My calculator reads 260,400,000. Fourteen hundred X 260,000 a year = 364,000,000 deaths. Fourteen hundred X 270,000 per year = 378,000,000 deaths. Even worse, 1400 X 293,000 a year= 410,200,000 deaths. That's right at 803 deaths a day, over 1400 years. Pretty thin air where you are.

Your abysmal mathematical skills suggest the rest of your arguments appear even more vacuous. I suggest you re-read the quotes in my post and consider your folly.

You deny that many people have died by the hands of people and countries in the name of religion? Truly, then, you are incorrigible, and I bid you goodbye. The only 'facts' you are capable of accepting are the ones that align with your questionable views...or, the ones you read on the blog sites of your worship.

But, I will take a bow with you, as we both stayed close to the thread topic!

Yeah, next time I'll have to watch the buttons I push much closer, never-the-less, you are accusing me of creating these facts, rather than pointing a link that has studied and presented them.

And it's obvious that you haven't watched it yet.

Homestead, I had gone to to another site and watched it, by Dr. Bill Warner, because I had trouble bringing it up on your site posted. By miscalculating some of your facts, you did create them, however inadvertently.

You are a knowledgeable man, sir, and I can appreciate your passions and research. But, reasonable men can disagree without disrepecting one another. When I find myself guilty of it, I try to be quick in apologizing once I recognize my doing so. I thank you for that passion and research, however questionable I may find them. I believe you to be an honorable man, as was..say, my Dad. We didn't always agree, either! And, you are a formidable man with your inimitable style. I'm sure someday we will clash again. I will do my best to be prepared.

Very diplomatic, my man! I wish I had such finesse. It seems the "difference of opinion" is due to - the victor writes the history. There being alternate histories, losers and winners, suggests that the truth is - somewhere between the two stories.

Case in point; The carpet bombing of German cities in WWII. One history characterizes it as a war crime, due to the huge civilian casualties. The other characterizes it as a heroic effort to end needless bloodshed. The same is true of the use of atomic bombs in Japan. The facts are beyond dispute, the reasons for the actions and the rationalization is subject to interpretation, which changes from time to time.

Seek ye the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

The truth is reality.

It can be substantiated and predictions for the future, can be made based on it and it repeats itself, time after time.

In the meantime.................................watch the video!

Every so often, Doc, you remind me, again, of why I respect and appreciate your input on the OPP. As I've told you before...you are an Honorary Marine, as all Corpsman are.

What you call 'diplomacy', in this case, is nothing more than an honest appreciation for a man, Homestead, who believes strongly the way he does. That we disagreed was neither a surprise nor an affront to me. 8-)

Your welcome. You are intellectually blessed and courteous at all times. I agree with you on most every subject. So there is nothing negative for me to jump on. And I enjoy the peace and quiet that you bring to me. May your days be filled with sunshine one cloudy days.

Well, thank you, again. My Grandmother used to tell me that one can disagree without being disagreeable. I loved my Grandparents enough to pay heed to a lot of what they said, and have never regreted it.

I must say, though...I am capable of faltering on occasion. Boofhead...gentleman that he is, brought it to my attention earlier on this thread. I owe him for doing so. And, I remember when you once corrected me, rightfully so, on my manners.

BTW, I almost always capitalize my Family members positions, out of respect for their standing with me. I also address all posters with a capital first letter of their OPP name for the same reason. It is one of my idiosyncrasies.

Thanks Marine. You know that, had I not been a corpsman, I would have been a Marine. It worked out good for me, as I never had latrine duty.

You know, I prefer people with strong opinions, as opposed to those with none. I can't tell you how many times I've changed my mind, because of what someone else has said. Those who can't, or won't listen to anyone else, have their uses as well, because they may be right. I listen to everybody and reserve the right to accept, or reject their opinions, as I see fit. It isn't necessary for them to agree with me. I'm just selfish that way.

I can't remember having latrine duty, but I sure recall...with malice, having 'pot-shack' duty at the messhall in Boot Camp. :hunf:

The pot-shack in Boot Camp consisted of all the greasy, nasty pots and pans used to cook, bake or broil all foods fed to the thousands of recruits at MCRD. I/We hated the days they served bread-pudding. Those pans needed dynamite to break the crusty stuff off and clean them. It was two weeks of sheer misery. I, to this day, will not eat bread pudding, which I liked before I went into the Corps.

I shiver with memories of the pot-shack.
